Placido Polanco went 0-for-4 and struck out for the sixth time already this season on Tuesday. Six strikeouts may not seem like much, but it's a lot for Polanco in 39 at-bats. Polanco has never fanned as many as 50 times in a season, and while it's still a very small sample, he's striking out at twice his career rate right now. Considering he already appeared to be an injury-propelled decline last year, it's worth wondering how much he has left at age 36.

Placido Polanco took batting practice Thursday for the first time since spraining his left ring finger on Saturday. Most of the swelling is gone, but Polanco admitted that his finger still "hurts a little bit." He'll continue taking batting practice, but won't return to game action until he has less pain gripping the bat. Barring a setback, the 36-year-old is likely to be ready for Opening Day.

Placido Polanco is scheduled to take some swings in the cage Thursday to test his left ring finger. Polanco hasn't played since spraining his left ring finger diving back into first base during Saturday's game. The 36-year-old doesn't believe it will be a lingering issue and should be ready for Opening Day.

X-rays on Placido Polanco's left ring finger have come back negative. Polanco had to exit Saturday's game after jamming his finger into first base on a pickoff attempt, but he's escaped serious injury. He'll be sidelined for a few days, but this won't impact his availability for the start of the season.

Placido Polanco went 2-for-4 with an RBI in the Phillies' 6-4 win over the Braves on Thursday. There was talk about Polanco becoming the Rockies' second baseman over the winter, but Colorado wasn't confident enough about his health to pull off a deal. Polanco is coming off hernia surgery, and the Phillies are being careful with him this spring as a result. Still, he played in consecutive games for the first time yesterday and today and he's now 8-for-16 at the plate.

Placido Polanco (hernia surgery) is scheduled to make his Grapefruit League debut Monday. The Phillies held Polanco, who is coming back from offseason hernia surgery, back from the first two spring games, but the veteran says he's not limited at all and will be out there on Monday. The 36-year-old will be looking for a bounce-back year after batting just .277/.335/.339 with five home runs and 50 RBI last season.

Placido Polanco (hernia surgery) said he is not limited in any way entering spring training. "I've been taking ground balls, hitting, running," said Polanco, who had offseason sports hernia surgeries to repair two abdominal tears. "I think I'm good to go." The 36-year-old batted .277/.335/.339 with five home runs, 50 RBI and a .674 OPS over 122 games last season and should be avoided outside of NL-only fantasy leagues.

Placido Polanco (hernia surgery) recently told Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro that he's feeling great and expects to be 100 percent at the start of spring training. Polanco had surgery in October to repair a double sports hernia, but his rehab has gone well to this point. We should know more once he starts going through baseball activities, but it doesn't sound like he's in any danger of not being ready for Opening Day at this point.
