Placido Polanco went 0-for-4 on Wednesday and is 4-for-36 with no extra-base hits this month. Polanco appeared to have his season turned around in June, but he's turned into a liability again of late, with just one RBI and two runs scored in 11 games this month. The Phillies should think about giving Mike Fontenot more time at third against righties.

Placido Polanco (finger) could be ready to return to the lineup Tuesday. Polanco visited with Dr. Randall Culp Monday before being cleared to take batting practice. Unless he has a setback over the next 24 hours, it sounds like he should be back in there against the Twins. He's missed the last five games with a laceration on his left index finger.

Placido Polanco (finger) will be out of the Phillies' starting lineup for at least another five days. Polanco suffered a laceration on his left index finger Tuesday and is also battling some wrist soreness. The Phillies will try to keep him off the 15-day disabled list for now, but they won't have any choice if the veteran third baseman doesn't improve by early next week. He's batting .289/.318/.374 this season.

Placido Polanco (finger) is still out Thursday. Polanco hasn't played since leaving Tuesday's game with a laceration on his left index finger. The veteran third baseman should be able to avoid a stint on the disabled list but may need a few more days. Ty Wigginton is starting at the hot corner on Thursday afternoon.

Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said Placido Polanco (finger) will miss "a few days." Polanco left Tuesday's game with a laceration on his left index finger. He tested the injury very briefly in the batting cage but evidently wasn't feeling well enough to return to action Wednesday. Ty Wigginton started at third base Wednesday, with John Mayberry Jr. covering first base.

Placido Polanco (knee) is not in Thursday's lineup against the Cubs. Polanco is still dealing with some bruising after fouling a ball off his left knee Wednesday night. There's a chance he could pinch-hit, but consider him day-to-day for now. Ty Wigginton will make the start at third base Thursday while Hector Luna plays first base. John Mayberry, Jr. will take a seat.
