According to Rob Rains of STLSportspage.com, top prospect Oscar Taveras is en route to joining the Cardinals and expected to be recalled from Triple-A Memphis on Saturday. Taveras, widely regarded as the best pure hitting prospect in the minor leagues, has been terrorizing Triple-A pitching to the tune of .325/.373/.524 with seven homers and 40 RBI in his first 49 games. While he may not light the world on fire initially at the major league level, he is immediately relevant in all mixed leagues.

Cardinals GM John Mozeliak said Wednesday that Oscar Taveras could "possibly" be called up when the club begins a stretch in American League parks on June 4. St. Louis will visit the Royals, Blue Jays, then Rays in a seven-game road trip from June 4-11.
