Tepesch was granted his unconditional release from his minor league contract Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
He had a 4.11 ERA and just 31 strikeouts in 65.2 innings at Triple-A before requesting to be released from his minor league deal. Tepesch will not be pitching meaningful innings in the big leagues anytime soon.

Tepesch was sent to minor league camp on Friday, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tepesch was in the running for the fifth starter spot after missing 2015 with an elbow injury, but allowing 14 earned runs in just 11 spring training innings likely didn't help his chances. The 27-year-old will likely land at Triple-A Round Rock and will serve as deep rotation depth for the Rangers.

Tepesch signed a minor league contract with the Rangers on Wednesday that includes an invitation to spring training, John Blake of the Texas Rangers reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tepesch was non-tendered earlier this offseason after sitting out all of 2015 with an elbow issue. Tepesch's most recent bout in the majors was in 2014 with Texas, where he posted a 5-11 record with a 4.36 ERA in 22 starts. He'll likely compete for the fifth spot in the Rangers rotation in spring training if he is healthy, although the position may be a short-term opening with Yu Darvish expected to return to the rotation in May.

Tepesch went non-tendered Wednesday by the Rangers, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tepesch sat out the entire 2015 season with an issue with a nerve in his elbow and it has continued to linger throughout his rehab. Due to this the Rangers, didn't tender a contract to Tepesch, however they have shown interest in signing him to a minor league deal instead.

Tepesch (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day DL on Monday, Anthony Andro of Fox Sports Southwest reports. Tepesch was expected to be out until at least the end of May as he deals with a nerve irritation in his right elbow, but the move was more likely done to clear room on the roster for the newly acquired Josh Hamilton than a change in his recovery timetable.

Tepesch has been diagnosed with nerve irritation in his right elbow and will not throw for three weeks, TR Sullivan of MLB.com reports. Tepesch struggled mightily in spring training, giving up a whopping 20 runs on 28 hits in 17.1 innings, and it seems the elbow issue may have played a big part. He will start the year on the DL at Triple-A Round Rock, and with a three-week shutdown period expected, Tepesch may have to wait until late May to make his debut.

Tepesch was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Monday, the Dallas Morning News' Evan Grant reports. It's official, Tepesch will not make the Rangers' rotation out of camp, but he remains one of the top options to jump in if an injury befalls one of the starters.

Tepesch rebouded from a poor initial start this spring with 3.1 scoreless innings Thursday. Tepesch allowed seven runs while retiring just four batters in his spring debut last week but was much improved in his second appearance. There are two spots open at the back of the Texas rotation, and Tepesch is expected to get heavy consideration for one of them.

Tepesch will compete with Ross Detwiler and Nick Martinez for the Rangers' fifth starter spot this spring, the team's official site reports. Detwiler is considered the early favorite, and eventually, the Rangers are expected to have Martin Perez back in the mix following Tommy John surgery. Tepesch has been working on his changeup, and shortening his delivery this offseason. If he ends up in the rotation again, his low strikeout rate (5.4 K/9 last season) makes him a risky option even in AL-only formats.
