Tepesch struck out two and walked four while giving up six runs -- five earned -- on six hits over 4.1 innings against the A's on Friday night. The 2014 campaign ends for Tepesch with a 4.36 ERA to his name, and what seems to be an almost certain ticket for Triple-A to begin 2015. His destination may hinge on the health of the Rangers' other starters, and the moves made by the front office during the winter, but he's shown the ceiling of a No. 5 starter thus far in parts of two big league seasons.

Tepesch allowed one run on four hits and two walks while striking out three in seven innings in the Rangers' 2-1 win over the Angels on Sunday. That makes two straight one-run outings for Tepesch. He's allowed eight runs in four starts in September. His ERA moved to 4.14 as a result of the start. He'll be back on the mound Friday against the Athletics.

Tepesch pitched six quality innings Tuesday, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks, while striking out one in the victory over the A's. At best, Tepesch has been at times serviceable this season, as Tuesday's start was his 10th quality outing on the year. In 20 starts (114.2 innings), Tepesch has a 4.47 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and a mediocre 51:38 K:BB. His next start is set for Sunday on the road against the Angels.

Tepesch was tagged for three runs on 10 hits over 4.2 innings in a losing effort Wednesday. The Rangers' rotation plans for the final weeks of the season are murky, but Tepesch could continue to take the ball every fifth day as the organization attempts to assess their plans for him in 2015 and beyond.

Tepesch (4-9) took the loss Wednesday, giving up four runs (three earned) on six hits over 6.2 innings against the Royals. It was a quality start for Tepesch, but he didn't receive much run support or help from his defense. The right-hander's 4.15 K/9 is the worst among pitchers with at least 100 innings. With off days, Tepesch's spot in the rotation doesn't come up until next Wednesday against the Angels.

Tepesch will be recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday, John Blake of the Rangers' official site reports. Tepesch is scheduled to start Wednesday's series final in Kansas City, against whom he yielded six runs on seven hits and three walks to go with two strikeouts in 6.1 innings on Aug. 23.

Tepesch was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday. This is simply a procedural move to free up a spot on the active roster in the short term, with Tepesch expected to return to make his next scheduled start Wednesday in Kansas City. The Royals roughed Tepesch up for six runs on seven hits and three walks over 6.1 innings on Aug. 23.

Tepesch picked up the loss on Saturday as he allowed six earned runs in six plus innings, while giving up seven hits and three walks against the Royals. With the game tied at one run apiece, Tepesch lost control in the fifth inning, as he gave up three four-pitch walks, two singles, and three runs. He walked Jarrod Dyson with the bases loaded then gave up a two-run single Omar Infante on an 0-2 pitch. Prior to Saturday's loss, Tepesch had won his previous three starts and now has a record of four wins and eight losses for the season.

Tepesch allowed two runs on six hits and four walks while striking out one batter in seven innings of work in the Rangers' 3-2 win over the Angels on Sunday. Despite only 52 of his 91 pitches called strikes, Tepesch stranded eight Angels baserunners in the outing. He's allowed four runs in three starts in August, allowing his ERA to fall to 4.15 on the season. It's a good sign for the 25-year-old, who posted a 6.15 ERA in July.

Tepesch tossed 5.2 scoreless inning in a winning effort Wednesday against the White Sox. The improbable victor in a duel with Chris Sale, Tepesch pounded the strike zone (55 of his 79 pitches were strikes) and stayed ahead of hitters throughout Wednesday's start. As the Rangers' rotation currently lines up, Tepesch will have two turns next week including a Tuesday home start against the Rays before a second home start Sunday (August 17) against the Angels.
