Nate McLouth is not in the Nationals' lineup Tuesday after re-opening the scab on his right hand during Monday's batting practice and game. He's available off the bench. The injury has been poor timing for McLouth, as he was slated to play regularly against righties with Bryce Harper (thumb). Of course, he's hitting only .091/.254/.164 this season, so the Nats probably haven't missed much in the week he's been out.

Nate McLouth returned to the starting lineup on Saturday, but went 0-for-3 against the A's. It was McLouth's first start since he sliced open his hand making a terrific catch against the wall five days ago. Unfortunately, McLouth is still slumping offensively; he's just 4-for-50 this season and he's without a hit since April 27. The Nationals need more from him with Bryce Harper and now Adam LaRoche out.

Nate McLouth (hand) made an appearance on defense in the Nationals' win over the Dodgers on Wednesday. A good sign for the status of his right hand, which he scraped badly while making a catch along the left field wall at Nationals Park on Monday. McLouth should be ready to return to the starting lineup Friday in Oakland.

Nate McLouth left Monday's game in the eighth inning with an apparent right hand injury after sliding into the left field wall. McLouth hurt both his hand and leg making an excellent catch down the left field line, but it appeared that it was the cut on his hand that forced him from the game. Consider him day-to-day.

Nate McLouth went 0-for-3 at the plate in Thursday's loss to the Cardinals. McLouth is handling center field while Denard Span (concussion) is out, but he's not taking advantage of the opportunity. He has just one hit in 14 at-bats since taking over for Span and is now hitting an ugly .087/.250/.130 with no RBI on the season.
