Baxter was optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Sunday, Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Baxter hasn't seen much playing time recently, and will now rejoin to Triple-A upon the return of David Ross (concussion) from the disabled list. However, the Cubs only have three outfielder on the roster as well as three catchers, so it's possible he'll rejoin the club after the All-Star break.

Baxter is out of the lineup Sunday against the Cardinals, MLB.com's Carrie Muskat reports. Baxter has been serving as the primary replacement in right field for the injured Jorge Soler, but he'll cede the start to Chris Denorfia in the series finale. Since his early-June promotion from Triple-A Iowa, Baxter is batting 12-for-36 (.333) with a pair of RBI.

Baxter went 3-for-5 and drove in a run against the Cardinals on Friday night, but he also made an error in the 10th inning that resulted in the game-winning run. Baxter has been starting in right field a bit lately, but Jorge Soler is due back soon, so his days could be numbered.

Baxter will start in right field for the second straight game Sunday against the Reds. Baxter has recorded a multi-hit game in each of his last two starts, so manager Joe Maddon will once again give him the nod over both Chris Denorfia and Junior Lake. On the season, Baxter is 6-for-21 (.286) with three runs scored, while still in search of his first RBI.

Baxter went 2-for-3 with a single, a double, two walks and three runs scored Wednesday against Detroit. Given the opportunity to get in the lineup thanks to the DH rule, Baxter delivered a productive game in his first start as a Cub. Unfortunately, he's probably not in line to see too much more action, but the lefty-hitting outfielder could see a couple more starts against right-handed pitching while Jorge Soler (ankle) is on the disabled list.

Baxter is in the lineup as the DH for Wednesday's game against the Tigers. Baxter, who was called up from Triple-A Iowa a week ago, has served only as a pinch hitter, but he'll be the beneficiary of playing in an AL park Wednesday. The 30-year-old has fared well at Triple-A, hitting .290/.377/.330 with eight RBI in 114 at-bats. He's 2-for-13 in 14 appearances for the Cubs in 2015.

Baxter was recalled from Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, Patrick Mooney of CSN Chicago reports. A day after being optioned to Iowa, Baxter was summoned back to the major league club to replace Jorge Soler (ankle) on the active roster. Junior Lake is starting in right field Wednesday for a second straight day, and Matt Szczur's ability to play center field may give him a leg up over Baxter for the top reserve outfielder role.

Baxter was optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday, Bruce Levine of 670 The Score reports. Baxter saw limited chances in his two weeks with the big club (1-for-9 with three strikeouts), and will now head back down to Iowa to bide his time. The Cubs decided Matt Szczur was a better fit for the fourth-outfielder role with Jorge Soler (ankle) banged up.

Baxter was called up from Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports. A roster spot opened up when the Cubs traded catcher Welington Castillo to the Mariners, and the 30-year-old Baxter will be up to occupy that spot at least temporarily. Baxter has hit .290 with a .377 OBP in 34 games with Iowa this season, albeit with very little power (four doubles, zero homers). He will likely be used primarily as a pinch-hitter during his time with the big club.

Baxter was reassigned to minor league camp Thursday, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports. Baxter managed just two hits in 27 at-bats this spring. He'll likely spend the year with Triple-A Iowa.
