Morse (hamstring) is expected to resume playing in extended spring training games in the near future,
EDGE Analysis
The hamstring injury Morse suffered in late March ended a possible bid for an Opening Day roster spot with the Giants, but he could warrant another look from the big club once he's able to get some game action back under his belt. The early returns from the left field platoon of Jarrett Parker and Chris Marrero has been very underwhelming, and in order to optimize the offense, Brandon Belt could potentially move to the outfield in order to open up time at first base for Morse. However, given that Morse is 35 years old and struggled in his last extended run in the big leagues in 2015, fantasy owners shouldn't count on him to make much of an impact if he resurfaces with the Giants down the road.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy confirmed Tuesday that Morse (hamstring) will require several weeks of rehab to recover from his injury, Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
EDGE Analysis
This timetable confirms the fact that Morse will not be available for the Giants on Opening Day. As a non-roster invitee, the 34-year-old will likely open his season at the Triple-A level upon recovery from his injury. He'll have a shot to work his way to the major leagues from there.

Morse said he would be out "a while" after he sustained a hamstring injury Monday, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
The injury essentially closes the door on Morse's chances of making the Giants' Opening Day roster, and his standing as a non-roster invitee means the team won't be able to stash him on the DL. As a result, Morse will likely have to prove himself at Triple-A once he's healthy again before he receives another opportunity at the big-league level.

Morse suffered a left hamstring injury Monday, Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Giants haven't commented on the extent of Morse's injury, which he sustained while rounding first base, but it's unfortunate timing, given that he had put himself in strong position for an Opening Day spot. Since Morse is a non-roster invitee, the Giants won't have the luxury of stashing him on the disabled list to begin the season, so the team may be forced to cut him if he fails to recover from the injury in quick fashion.

Morse is "definitely in the argument" to make the Giants' roster out of spring training, CSN Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
After a bit of a sluggish start to camp, the veteran's bat has come alive, bringing his Cactus League OPS up to 1.016 in his 27 plate appearances. Of course, his ability to break camp with the big league squad comes with the caveat that San Francisco would need to DFA someone to make room for Morse on the 40-man, but his ability to come off the bench and change the game with one swing certainly could warrant such a move. This situation is one worth monitoring as the conclusion of spring training nears.

Morse went deep twice Saturday, going 2-for-3 with 3 RBI in a split-squad win over the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
It's probably safe to say that Morse's bat has arrived in Arizona. After getting off to a slow start, the slugger has smacked three homers over his last three games. An everyday job is unlikely for the 34-year-old, but he could hit his way into a bench role with his former club if he keeps the power going.

Morse 1-for-3 with a two-run homer in Wednesday's exhibition against Team Puerto Rico.
EDGE Analysis
The home run was Morse's first of the spring campaign; he was batting .214 (3-for-14) prior to Wednesday's exhibition game. The 35-year-old slugger is currently fighting for a bench spot on the 25-man roster. He is considered a long shot to make the cut with the Giants having Buster Posey and Conor Gillespie as primary backups to Brandon Belt at first base. Morse would likely have to earn a spot as a fifth outfielder, but his sub-par defense may hold him back from even earning a job in that capacity.

Morse is one of 28 non-roster invitees the Giants will bring to Arizona for spring training, CSN Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
Morse hadn't done much over his last two seasons with the Marlins and the Pirates (five homers and 19 RBI in 264 plate appearances), but he did have deep league value as a power bat the last time he was on San Francisco's roster in 2014 (16 homers and 61 RBI). While an aging slugger shouldn't generate much fantasy interest, there is an outside chance that he could win the vacant starting job in left field with a strong spring. Mac Williamson and Jarrett Parker are the clear favorites to land the job, but the Giants have built a reputation of favoring veterans over unproven youngsters, so Morse should be given a chance to compete and could be worth a late-round flyer in NL-only formats.

Morse signed a minor league deal with the Giants on Friday, Baseball America's Matt Eddy reports.
EDGE Analysis
It is not clear if Morse will receive an invitation to spring training, but that seems likely, given his veteran standing and the fact that he has played in the big leagues as recently as this past season with the Pirates. That said, he seems unlikely to break camp with the big club, as the Giants are set at first base with Brandon Belt and Buster Posey, and Morse's outfield defense is pretty awful.

Morse was unconditionally released from the Pirates on Thursday, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Morse had previously been designated for assignment but has now been released by the Pirates. The 34-year-old went 0-for-8 in six games this season and will now begin looking for another team.
