Lorenzen didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 7-6 extra-innings win over the Giants, surrendering six runs on eight hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
The strikeouts were somewhat encouraging, but Lorenzen's first start of the season was mostly poor as he served up two-run home runs to Blake Sabol in the second inning and J.D. Davis in the third, eventually exiting after 79 pitches (52 strikes). Fortunately for the right-hander, he got bailed out by Detroit's batters after he hit the showers. Lorenzen, whose season debut was delayed due to a spring groin strain, should remain in the rotation for at least another couple turns. He'll hope he's shaken off all the rust ahead of his next outing, likely to come next weekend in Baltimore.

Lorenzen (groin) was activated Saturday from the 15-day injured list.
EDGE Analysis
Lorenzen will jump into the Tigers' starting rotation Saturday against the Giants after missing the first three weeks of the 2023 regular season due to a left groin strain. He struggled in his lone minor-league rehab start last weekend with Triple-A Toledo and is not a recommended fantasy streaming option.

Lorenzen (groin) will be reinstated from the 15-day injured list and start Saturday against the Giants, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lorenzen has missed the first few weeks of the season with a left groin strain. He made a rehab start last Saturday with Triple-A Toledo but got hit around quite a bit, surrendering four earned runs over 2.1 frames. That being said, it's best to limit expectations as the 31-year-old righty works his way back into the rhythm of the season.

Lorenzen (groin) is expected to be activated from the 15-day injured list and return to Detroit's rotation at some point during this weekend's series against the Giants, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Friday's series opener appears to be the tentative target, and Lorenzen's impending activation comes with good timing after Matt Manning landed on the injured list Wednesday due to a fractured right foot. Lorenzen has missed the first three weeks of the 2023 campaign while recovering from a left groin strain. He gave up four earned runs over just 2.1 innings in his lone rehab start last Saturday with Triple-A Toledo, so fantasy expectations should be tempered if he pitches this weekend.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch told reporters before Sunday's game against the Red Sox that the plan is for Lorenzen (groin) to make his next start in the big leagues, but he'll be evaluated by the medical staff before making the decision, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lorenzen made a rehab start Saturday for Triple-A Toledo and gave up four runs in 2.1 innings of work against Triple-A Iowa. The right-hander is recovering from a left groin strain and missed well over two weeks with the injury, so it's possible Lorenzen won't be fully stretched out for an appearance or two with the Tigers, assuming that he gets clearance to join the club.

Lorenzen (groin) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo on Saturday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lorenzen was cleared for rehab games after he got through a live batting practice session and pitchers' fielding practice Monday with no issues. He's missed a few weeks with a left groin strain, so Lorenzen figures to require a couple rehab starts before joining the Tigers' rotation.

Lorenzen (groin) threw live batting practice and went through PFP drills Monday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Assuming he comes out of the workout with no concerns, Lorenzen seems poised to begin a rehab assignment soon. He hasn't pitched in a game since mid-March, so the right-hander would figure to need a couple rehab outings before joining the Tigers' rotation. Joey Wentz is currently filling his rotation spot.

Lorenzen (groin) was placed on the 15-day injured list Thursday, retroactive to March 27.
EDGE Analysis
Manager A.J. Hinch confirmed last week that Lorenzen would begin the season on the shelf due to the groin strain he was diagnosed with March 20, and that transaction is now official. The right-hander recently threw a bullpen session and could progress to facing live batters within the next week or two.

Lorenzen (groin) threw a bullpen session earlier this week and will throw another one Thursday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lorenzen is expected to be on the injured list to begin the season with a left groin strain, but he seems to be making nice progress. The right-hander will probably need a rehab start before returning but might only wind up missing the minimum 15 days.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch confirmed Friday that Lorenzen (groin) will not be ready for the beginning of the season, Chris McCosky of the Detroit News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lorenzen was scratched from a Grapefruit League start this past Monday due to a mild left groin strain and is going to need a short IL stint before he hops into a starting role with Detroit. Joey Wentz will fill his spot in the meantime.
