Upton went 3-for-4 with a double, a homer, two RBI and two runs against the Brewers on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
He came only a triple shy of hitting for the cycle -- a welcome performance for fantasy owners who can't help but worry about his batting average. Last year's .259 was his best mark since 2008, but he did that as a part-time player; Upton's an everyday presence in the Padres' lineup now, and he's walking at his best rate since ... well, 2008 again. All the while, the 31-year-old is helping out in the power and speed departments.

Upton is not in the lineup for Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Cubs, Mark Sweeney of Fox Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Upton will take the first game off before presumably returning to the lineup for the nightcap. The Padres will go with Alex Dickerson in left field, and he'll be joined by Travis Jankowski in center and Matt Kemp in right.

Upton is out of the lineup Monday against the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Taking a seat for the first time since April 11, Upton will hand over left field to Travis Jankowski, who is slotted in at eighth in the order. With a hit on the ledger in five of the last seven games, Upton has recorded a .185 average (5-for-27) with five RBI, three runs, one steal (in two attempts), and two walks versus 13 strikeouts in that stretch.

Upton went 3-for-7 with a two-run homer, a steal, two runs and a walk Saturday against the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
His second blast of the season was a game-winner in the bottom of the 14th inning. Coming into this game, he's struggled to pile up counting stats, as he hadn't scored a run in his previous five contests, and he hadn't driven in a run in his previous seven games.

Upton is in the lineup and batting fifth for Tuesday's game against the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
Upton has had success early on against right-handed pitching, hitting .333 with one home run and two RBI in nine at-bats this season, giving him a favorable matchup with Phillies' pitcher Charlie Morton in this one.

Upton is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
Upton racked up five hits over his previous three games, but manager Andy Green decided to give him a day off Monday with Brett Wallace starting at first base and Wil Myers moving to left field.

Upton is batting second Saturday against Colorado.
EDGE Analysis
Upton has hit seventh or eighth in each of his three previous starts this season, but he'll shift up in the order against lefty Jorge De La Rosa. Jon Jay will continue as the Padres' leadoff man, while Matt Kemp and Wil Myers hit third and fourth, respectively.

Upton is back in the lineup as the eighth hitter Friday against the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Upton got the day off Wednesday with manager Andy Green shaking up the lineup with the hopes of getting the Padres' offense off the ground. He'll draw back in Friday against Colorado right-hander Jordan Lyles. Upton and the Padres are hoping that a weekend at Coors Field can help get their offense on track.

Upton is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Dodgers, the Union-Tribune's Jeff Sanders reports.
EDGE Analysis
He received five at-bats over the Padres' first two games, going hitless with two strikeouts. Rookie Jabari Blash is in the lineup hitting eighth while manning left field Wednesday, and it seems likely that the two players will share time in the early going. Considering Upton has a long recent track record of poor play, Blash is the one who is worth a look in fantasy leagues, thanks to plus raw power.

Upton is batting seventh and playing left field on Opening Day versus the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Upton was thought to be a reserve outfielder headed into the 2016 campaign, but he'll garner the nod to start the season. It's unclear if he'll stay ahead of Rule-5 pick Jabari Blash on the depth chart when left-handed pitchers are on the mound, but getting the start to begin the season is a good sign regardless.
