Matt Lindstrom blew his second save of the season but took the win Sunday, allowing two unearned runs against the White Sox. Lindstrom wasn't officially charged with an earned run but wasn't particularly strong either, giving up two straight singles following a Jose Abreu error and later letting in another run on a wild pitch. Alexei Ramirez saved his skin with a two-run homer in the bottom of the inning, but the fact remains -- Lindstrom's hold on the closer position is tenuous at best at this point.

Matt Lindstrom took a blown save and a loss after giving up two runs in the ninth Thursday against the Twins. Lindstrom was given a gift right away, with C.B. Bucknor ringing Joe Mauer up on a slider that was several inches off the plate. Lindstrom, though, needed to be spotted more than one out today. He walked Josh Willingham, gave up a game-tying single to Trevor Plouffe and then surrendered a rocket to center from Oswaldo Arcia that turned into a go-ahead triple. Lindstrom isn't really closer material in our minds, but the good news for him is that the heir apparent, Nate Jones, is off to a dreadful start. Lindstrom should keep the job for now.

Matt Lindstrom tossed a scoreless ninth inning Monday to notch a save in a season-opening win over the Twins. Lindstrom struck out one batter in the frame and danced around a one-out double from Chris Colabello to lock down the victory. Most expected that Nate Jones would get a chance at the closer role after the Addison Reed trade, but White Sox manager Robin Ventura wants to go with the proven veteran for now. We still think Jones will emerge before long, but Lindstrom is a must-own in all fantasy leagues at the moment.

White Sox manager Robin Ventura announced Monday that Matt Lindstrom will be the team's closer. Nate Jones was thought to have the edge going into camp and even coming out of it, but Ventura has opted for the more-experienced Lindstrom. The 34-year-old right-hander registerd a 3.12 ERA and 46/23 K/BB ratio in 60 2/3 innings last summer for Chicago and is now a must-own in fantasy leagues for the 2014 season.

Matt Lindstrom (oblique) will make his Cactus League debut on Wednesday. It was supposed to be Tuesday, but the White Sox want to give his strained left oblique one more day of recovery time. Lindstrom should be ready for Opening Day if he avoids further physical complications.

Matt Lindstrom (oblique) threw a successful side session on Saturday and will return to Cactus League action on Tuesday. Provided he can avoid any further setbacks, he still has enough time to get ready for Opening Day. What the injury cost him, was a chance to usurp the closer role this spring from Nate Jones who is the odds-on favorite to win the position.

Matt Lindstrom (oblique) is expected to return to Cactus League action on Tuesday or Wednesday. Lindstrom strained an oblique at the beginning of March but is almost over the injury. He threw a side session on Thursday in White Sox camp and reported no issues. The right-hander should be 100 percent by Opening Day.

Matt Lindstrom (oblique) threw off flat ground without issue on Wednesday. "Looked like he was going pretty hard," Dan Hayes of CSN Chicago passed along. "Only a few tosses but a good sign." Lindstrom had been shut down since last Tuesday, when he had a setback with his strained oblique. There's no timetable for his return to game action, but he hasn't been ruled out for Opening Day.

Matt Lindstrom (oblique) played catch Monday and went through a strenuous workout in the training room. Lindstrom had been shut down since last Tuesday, when he had a setback with his strained oblique. There's no timetable for his return to game action, but he hasn't been ruled out for Opening Day yet. "I'm not tentative, but I'm not real confident in it just yet," Lindstrom said. "It's one of those things where you want to fire it in there as hard as you can, but you don't want it to do what it did last time and take a step back."
