White Sox manager Robin Ventura said Wednesday that Matt Lindstrom will undergo ankle surgery. It's not clear yet whether the procedure is going to end Lindstrom's season. He was placed on the disabled list Tuesday after injuring his left ankle Monday while trying to field an Alcides Escobar bunt. The White Sox should provide more details on Thursday morning. Ronald Belisario and Daniel Webb seems to be the best ninth-inning candidates for Chicago moving forward.

White Sox placed RHP Matt Lindstrom on the 15-day disabled list with a tendon injury in his left ankle. Lindstrom suffered the injury during Monday's game against the Royals. No word on where the White Sox will go from here with the closer role, but Ronald Belisario and Daniel Webb are likely at the top of the list.

Matt Lindstrom left Monday's appearance versus the Royals with a left foot injury. Lindstrom appeared to turn his ankle while trying to field an Alcides Escobar bunt. He was hobbled noticeably as he walked towards the dugout and into the clubhouse. The closer was trying to protect a one-run lead in the ninth but allowed a leadoff single before committing an error on the Escobar bunt. The White Sox should update his status shortly.

Matt Lindstrom put two runners on with no outs but escaped without incident, earning his sixth save in Wednesday's win over the A's. Lindstrom walked Jed Lowrie and allowed a Josh Donaldson single to start the frame, but he induced a Brandon Moss double play before getting Yoenis Cespedes to line out to end it. It hasn't always been a walk in the park -- in fact, it's rarely been a walk in the park -- but White Sox manager Robin Ventura keeps turning to Lindstrom with the game on the line. Fantasy owners should continue to, too.

Matt Lindstrom converted his fifth save of the season on Monday, working a scoreless 12th inning to preserve a win over the Cubs. The veteran right-hander did walk a man and allow a base hit, but was able to avoid any damage. He has settled into the closer's role a bit over the last two weeks, and needs to be owned in all mixed leagues until he loses the ninth-inning gig.

Matt Lindstrom nailed down his fourth save of the season with a scoreless inning in Sunday's win over the Indians. He allowed a two-out single to Lonnie Chisenhall, who then went to second base on a passed ball. However, Lindstrom then got Asdrubal Cabrera swinging to preserve the one-run victory. While Lindstrom has given up just two earned runs over his last 11 innings, he has a 6/6 K/BB ratio over that time. His grip on the White Sox' closer job remains a loose one.

Matt Lindstrom earned his third save of the season in Wednesday's win over the Tigers. Lindstrom found himself in trouble, putting the winning run on base with a walk and a single, but was able to escape the jam. Lindstrom has made things anything but comfortable pitching out of the bullpen in nine appearances to start the season.

Matt Lindstrom picked up his second save despite giving up a hit and a walk in the ninth Monday against the Tigers. The Tigers ran out of lefties to use against Lindstrom after he allowed two to reach with one out, and he was able to get Rajai Davis to ground out and Ian Kinsler to fly out to end it, leaving Miguel Cabrera on deck. We don't expect Lindstrom to hold on to the White Sox's closer gig for a whole lot longer, but since he got the job done tonight, he's safe for now.

Matt Lindstrom was charged with a remarkably cheap blown save after inheriting Maikel Cleto's mess in the ninth inning Wednesday against the Red Sox. Cleto, who got the last out in the eighth, was going to get a chance to go for the save in the ninth, but he was pulled from a 3-2 game after walking the first two batters of the inning. Lindstrom came in and retired David Ortiz on a flyball before giving up a soft infield single and a game-tying sac fly. While he did no wrong, it was his third blown save of the young season. Lindstrom preserved the tie from there and pitched a scoreless 10th, so it was a good night for him and a setback for Cleto, who appeared set to get a chance to supplant Lindstrom in the closer's role.

White Sox manager Robin Ventura said Tuesday that Matt Lindstrom remains the team's closer for the time being. "He's in there right now," said Ventura. "It's always been that way, where you can make a change at any time. It's tough, the job is tough. As of right now, he'd probably be going out there today." Lindstrom blew his second save of the season Sunday and holds a 5.00 ERA and 2.00 WHIP through his first five appearances. With Ronald Belisario also struggling and Nate Jones (back) on the DL, Daniel Webb or Maikel Cleto might get a shot in the ninth if Ventura eventually decides to make a move.
