Kemp is unlikely to be part of the Reds' first base picture, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports. "We hope Joey (Votto) plays every day for the most part, but I think there's going to be some thought to making sure he's strong all the way through," manager David Bell said. "Matt Kemp has never played there. I know we talk about moving positions a lot and try to talk about how possible it is because I believe that, but that's a tough thing. At this point in his career, to have never played the position, that would be a big ask."
EDGE Analysis
Obviously Joey Votto is the every day starter at first base, but in the event that Votto is injured or needs a day off, it's unlikely that the Reds turn to Kemp. Kemp is going to have a difficult time playing regularly absent an injury, especially if Nick Senzel starts up with the big club on Opening Day.

The Dodgers traded Kemp, Yasiel Puig and Alex Wood to Cincinnati on Friday in exchange for Homer Bailey, Josiah Gray and Jeter Downs, Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
It appears as though Los Angeles is freeing up cap space and room in the outfield in the hopes of landing Bryce Harper this winter. Kemp's role with the Reds will likely be as the club's fourth outfielder behind Jesse Winker while Puig and Scott Schebler round out the group. During his resurgent 2018 campaign, Kemp slashed .290/.338/.481 with 21 home runs and 85 RBI. Look for him to see a majority of his time in the lineup versus left-handed pitching.

Kemp went 3-for-3 with a double, three RBI and one run scored during Sunday's win over the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
The outfielder helped the Dodgers put away San Francisco with seven runs in the third inning, securing a place in Game 163 against Colorado for the NL West title. Kemp finished the regular season with a .290 average and .819 OPS, to go along with 21 home runs and 85 RBI in 146 games.

Kemp went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, double, three RBI and two runs scored Sunday against the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
Kemp cranked his 21st home run of the season in the second inning and later delivered a two-RBI single in the fourth. He entered Sunday's action with only three extra-base hits across 40 September at-bats, but still managed 10 RBI thanks to the Dodgers' strong lineup.

Kemp went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Wednesday's win over the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Kemp got the Dodgers on the board early, lifting his 20th home run of the season in the second inning. Despite a productive year -- 20 home runs, 79 RBI, .285 average -- Kemp has slowly been losing playing time over the stretch of the season and was pinch-hit for by Joc Pederson in the seventh inning in this one. That situation likely won't change much over the final week and a half, so Kemp's at-bats may be limited.

Kemp went 0-for-1 in his lone plate appearance Saturday against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Kemp was situated on the bench for the second consecutive game and eighth time over the Dodgers' last 14 games since rosters expanded Sept. 1. The 33-year-old has performed well when given an opportunity this month (.310/.333/.448) and still owns a strong .285/.336/.467 slash line on the year, but the club's crowded outfield has limited Kemp to the short-side of a platoon in left field with Joc Pederson, a situation that doesn't appear to be changing any time soon.

Kemp hit a walkoff two-RBI double Sunday against the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
Kemp got only one at-bat Sunday but made it count by smacking a double off the centerfield wall to give the Dodgers the win. He hasn't been in the lineup against a right-handed pitcher since August 18 -- a span of six games -- which greatly limits his fantasy appeal. However, he has now delivered two game-winning hits in as many days, opening the possibility that he still earns more playing time before the season comes to a close.

Kemp is out of the lineup Sunday against the Diamondbacks, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kemp hasn't started against a right-handed pitcher since Aug. 18 and will hit the bench for the sixth consecutive game the Dodgers have matched up with a righty. At this point, it appears safe to conclude that Kemp is a short-end platoon player, a role that probably makes him a drop candidate in most shallower settings in spite of his solid season batting line.

Kemp went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run Saturday against the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
Kemp took Archie Bradley deep in the eighth inning to record his 19th home run of the season and provided the Dodgers all the offense they needed to get the win. While Kemp has seen most of his at-bats against southpaws of late -- suggesting he may be on the short-side of a platoon -- he homered against the right-handed Bradley on Saturday. It was his first longball since August 17, and he hit just .214 with one home run, five RBI and six runs scored across 70 at-bats for the month.

Kemp started in left field and batted cleanup Thursday, going 2-for-4 in a loss to Arizona.
EDGE Analysis
Kemp was batting .190 (11-for-58) with just one homer through the first 19 games of August, causing him to fall into platoon/fourth-outfielder role. The 33-year-old has gone 4-for-12 while starting three of the Dodgers' last four contests, but all three have come against left-handed starters. Kemp is still batting in the heart of the order when he starts, but being on the short-side of a platoon certainly puts a big dent in his fantasy value down the stretch.
