Kemp will begin the season on the Rockies' major-league roster.
EDGE Analysis
Kemp signed a minor-league contract with the Rockies at the end of June, but he impressed enough as part of the team's 60-man roster to earn a spot on the expanded major-league roster to begin the season. The 35-year-old could carve out some playing time this season with Ian Desmond sitting out this year and with the addition of the designated hitter in the National League.

Kemp agreed Tuesday with the Rockies on a minor-league contract, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports. He's expected to be added to the Rockies' 60-man roster pool.
EDGE Analysis
Kemp joined the Marlins this offseason on a minor-league deal and had been a candidate to crack the Opening Day roster out of spring training before MLB suspended its season, but Miami apparently released him at some point before announcing its initial 60-man pool Sunday. With the Rockies receiving notice from Ian Desmond on Monday that he would sit out the 60-game season for personal reasons, the team quickly turned its focus to Kemp as a potential replacement. Though the 35-year-old Kemp is well removed from his prime years and no longer offers much value in the field, he could be a viable candidate to fill the designated-hitter role that will be available to the Rockies in 2020. In his last season as an everyday player in 2018 during his second stint with the Dodgers, Kemp slashed .290/.338/.481 with 21 home runs and 85 RBI in 506 plate appearances, earning his third All-Star nod along the way.

If Kemp makes the Marlins' 26-man roster, it will likely be in a reserve capacity, Steven Wine of the Associated Press reports. "Matt is in a great spot," manager Don Mattingly said. "He knows where he's at. That's the key for a guy like Matt, where you're not going to be playing six days a week, and understanding that's the role we're looking for."
EDGE Analysis
Kemp suffered a broken rib in April 2019 and missed the final five months of the season. Entering his age-35 season, he settled for an NRI deal with the Marlins, but believes he can still play, citing the fact he was an All-Star in 2018. The expectation is that Corey Dickerson will start in left field with Jonathan Villar starting in center field. That leaves Garrett Cooper, Lewis Brinson, Matt Joyce, Harold Ramirez, Magneuris Sierra and Kemp to battle it out for playing time in right field.

Kemp (ribs) agreed Wednesday with the Marlins on a minor-league contract that includes an invitation to big-league spring training, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
EDGE Analysis
In what might be his final attempt to keep his MLB career going, the 35-year-old Kemp will reunite with Don Mattingly, his manager with the Dodgers from 2011 through 2015. After earning a surprise All-Star nod in 2018, Kemp broke camp with the Reds last season but broke his rib in late April and was released soon after. Kemp then landed a minor-league deal with the Mets, playing in only eight games for the organization's Triple-A affiliate before suffering a setback with the ribs and getting released again. Considering Miami's outfielders combined for just 1.2 WAR (29th in the majors) in 2019, the move to the Marlins probably represents one of the best possible landing spots for Kemp.

Kemp (ribs) has been released by the Mets, Gerard Gilberto of Yahoo reports.
EDGE Analysis
Prior to being released, Kemp was on the 7-day injured list due to lingering effects from a broken left rib suffered in April. This might be the end of the road for Kemp, unless he is willing to take another minor-league deal. He may have to prove he is healthy before given that opportunity.

Triple-A Syracuse placed Kemp on its 7-day injured list Tuesday after the veteran experienced "lingering effects" from the broken left rib he suffered April 21, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
A member of the Reds at the time he suffered the injury, Kemp was placed on the team's 10-day injured list before being released two weeks later. He latched on with the Mets in late May and was assigned to their Triple-A affiliate, where he had gone 8-for-34 with a home run and three RBI over his first eight games. Kemp apparently returned to action before the rib completely healed, so he'll be sidelined for an indefinite period before returning to action. The setback likely harms Kemp's chances of eventually earning a callup to the big club.

Kemp signed a minor-league contract with the Mets on Friday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kemp was cut loose by the Reds after he struggled to produce at the plate through his first 20 games of 2019 (.200/.210/.283 slash line), but New York will take a chance on the veteran outfielder. He suffered a broken rib near the end of April but appears to have returned to health. Kemp will provide organizational depth for Triple-A Syracuse for the time being, though there's a good chance he'll surface again in the big leagues if he can find his swing or if the injury bug bites the Mets.

Kemp (ribs) was released by the Reds on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Kemp hit just .200/.210/.283 in 20 games before landing on the injured list with a broken rib. The Reds will simply let him go rather than wait for him to recover. The fracture may complicate Kemp's ability to sign another contract, at least in the near future.

Kemp (ribs) is expected to remain out for at least a few weeks, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer.
EDGE Analysis
Kemp will require longer than the 10-day minimum to recover from a broken rib, likely opening the door for Phillip Ervin to see more opportunities. Kemp was off to a slow start at the dish in 2019 prior to the injury, hitting .200 with a home run and five RBI over 20 games.

Kemp was placed on the 10-day injured list due to a broken rib, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kemp was initially diagnosed with a chest well contusion after running into a wall during Sunday's contest, but it's since been revealed that he fractured a rib. It's unclear if he'll be able to return after the 10-day minimum. Phillip Ervin has been recalled from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move.
