Holliday is out of Friday's lineup against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
He was activated from the DL earlier in the day, so it is a little surprising to not see him in the lineup. However, he is listed on the lineup card, so he should be available off the bench. Look for him to get into the lineup sometime this weekend.

Holliday (back) was activated from the 10-day DL on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
This move was fully anticipated, given roster expansion. It remains to be seen if Holliday will be in the lineup against righty Doug Fister, but he should assume most of the starts at DH down the stretch.

Holliday (back) said he expects the Yankees to activate him from the 10-day disabled list Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Holliday has appeared in seven games during his rehab assignment at High-A Tampa, going 6-for-25 with five RBI. The Yankees moved Holliday to the disabled list Aug. 6 with a left lumbar strain, but it doesn't appear as though the issue has bothered him during the minor-league contests. Upon rejoining the Yankees, Holliday will likely settle back in as the primary option at designated hitter, leaving fewer at-bats available for the likes of Jacoby Ellsbury, Todd Frazier and Ronald Torreyes.

Holliday (back) has gone 3-for-17 with three RBI in five rehab games with High-A Tampa.
EDGE Analysis
After an 0-for-10 start to his assignment, Holliday has collected three hits in his last two games. He's eligible to return at any point, but the Yankees could always opt to keep the 37-year-old down until rosters expand Sept. 1, to give him plenty of time to get his timing back. While Holliday should slot in as the primary DH upon his eventual return, he probably won't play every day.

Holliday (back) will begin a minor-league rehab assignment with High-A Tampa on Friday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Holliday was able to resume hitting over the weekend, and apparently everything went off without a hitch as he's now set to return to action for the first time since landing on the DL on Aug. 6. The length of his rehab assignment hasn't been determined yet, but he likely won't need too many at-bats before being ready to rejoin the Yankees. The 37-year-old, who is hitting .229 with 16 homers through 88 games this season, is expected to immediately reclaim DH duties upon his activation.

Holliday (back) was able to take batting practice Sunday, Justin Tasch of the New York Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Holliday landed on the disabled list over a week ago with a left lumbar strain after feeling a tweak in his back on a swing. The fact that he's just resuming hitting now suggests he won't be ready to return Tuesday when he's first eligible, but it also appears as though the 37-year-old avoided anything overly serious. The next step will likely be to continue hitting live pitching, with a brief rehab stint potentially on tap after that.

Holliday was placed on the 10-day disabled list Sunday due to a left lumbar strain.
EDGE Analysis
Many speculated that the veteran would require a DL stint, and that was ultimately his fate after tweaking his back in Friday's contest. No word has come forth as to how severe the issue is, so it's tough to tell if he'll be able to return after the minimum 10 days or not. Garrett Cooper will emerge from the minors to replace Holliday on the active roster.

Manager Joe Girardi said Holliday (back) will "probably" be placed on the 10-day disabled list, Pete Caldera of The Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
Holliday suffered a lower back strain during Friday's game against the Indians, forcing him to sit out Saturday's contest. The veteran slugger already missed 14 games earlier this season with an illness and has been less than effective since returning, batting 11-for-81 with just one home run in that span.

Holliday tweaked his left lower back on a swing during Friday's game, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Joe Girardi said prior to Saturday's game that a DL stint is a possibility. It would make sense if the Yankees made that move, as Holliday was looking lost at the plate before this issue popped up. He's posted just a .136/.165/.198 line since the All-Star break.

Holliday is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Indians, Pete Caldera of The Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran has been in a bad way at the dish since his return from the DL last month, posting a sub-.400 OPS over his last 20 games. He remains the Yankees' primary DH for now, but he will likely continue to sit here and there until he starts showing signs of breaking out of this slump.
