The Baltimore Orioles selected shortstop Jackson Holliday out of Stillwater High School in Stillwater, Oklahoma, with the first overall pick in the 2022 MLB draft. The 18-year-old was named the Gatorade Oklahoma prep player of the year last year after putting together a ridiculous .685/.749/1.392 slash line as a senior. He broke J.T. Realmuto's national record for hits in a single high school season with 89. The son of longtime MLB star Matt Holliday is committed to Oklahoma State, where he will...

ADP Champ or Chump - Jesus Aguilar and David Dahl rotoballer.com Thu 2/21/19 6:45 AM

Sometimes, it can be tough to turn away from the waiver wire guys who helped your team the previous year. Jesus Aguilar likely won some leagues with his 35-homer campaign out of nowhere last season. Likewise, David Dahl provided juice in all categories when he saw the field in 2018.Unfortunately, adding somebody for free off of waivers is very different from investing an early draft pick in them. Advanced metrics suggest that both players above are likely to disappoint their fantasy owners based[...]

Matt Holliday Intends To Play In 2019 rotoballer.com Wed 11/7/18 6:59 PM

Free-agent outfielder Matt Holliday has intentions of playing in 2019. Holliday will be 39 heading into next season and will be more attractive to American League teams in a designated hitter role. In just 53 at-bats over 25 games for the Rockies in 2018, he hit .283/.415/.434 with two home runs and three RBI. Holliday will have to settle for a minor league deal again this winter and isn't a lock to make a team's opening day roster out of spring training.

NL-Only Waiver Wire Team of the Week: MLB Week 22 rotoballer.com Tue 8/28/18 4:15 AM

Every week in baseball, a significant player will hit the disabled list, slip into a slump, or get traded out of a good spot. How fantasy owners adapt to these situations can make or break the season as a whole. One lousy add might not hurt the long-term standing of a team, but failing to take advantage of breakouts or impact bats before others sure can. The primary challenge of playing in an NL or AL-only league is often the lack of options regarding adding and subtracting players when neede[...]

Matt Holliday Has Yet To Receive A Contract Offer rotoballer.com Fri 2/2/18 8:18 AM

This article references Matt Holliday and more! Free-agent outfielder Matt Holliday said in an interview on MLB Network Radio on Friday that he has not yet received a contract offer from any teams this offseason. Holliday batted .262/.366/.511 with 15 home runs in the first half last season but hit just .179/.225/.300 in the second half while battling through a virus. He wants to continue playing and could probably help a team at the very least in a part-time role, but Holliday is now 38 and it is conceivable he might be pushed into retiremen[...]Keep on reading: Matt Holliday Has Yet To Receive A Contract Offer

If you play in a head-t0-head points league, or season long format, you already know how difficult it can be to find fantasy analysis tailored to the format. Not only are the traditional rotisserie and head-to-head arrangements more popular, but the very nature of points leagues makes them difficult to cover in a general sense because they carry significantly more variance in terms of settings. Niche audience or no, there are still plenty of folks out there who love the format, and y'all dese[...]Keep on reading: 2018 First Base - Early Points League Rankings and Tiers

Matt Holliday Plans To Keep Playing rotoballer.com Thu 11/9/17 10:57 AM

New York Yankees free-agent designated hitter Matt Holliday plans to continue his career at least through the 2018 season. Holliday was a disappointment in 2017 with his .231 averaged, but he still managed to hit 19 home runs in 373 at-bats over 105 games. Because he was mainly limited to DH duties [...]
