Den Dekker will make the Nationals' Opening Day roster, Dan Kolko of MASN Sports reports. Den Dekker will be given an opportunity with Jayson Werth (shoulder), Denard Span (abdominal) and Nate McLouth all opening the year on the disabled list. If the 27-year-old is able to impress, manager Matt Williams and the Washington front office will have some tough roster decisions to make once the outfield returns to full strength.

Den Dekker was traded to the Nationals on Monday for left-hander Jerry Blevins, MLB.com reports. The 27-year-old spent parts of the last two seasons with New York, including 174 MLB plate appearances last season, in which he hit .250 with a .345 OBP. He also spent time at Triple-A Las Vegas, hitting a healthy .334 while slugging .540 with 46 RBI and eight home runs. Den Dekker has experience at all three outfield spots, but he'll likely open the season in a reserve role, seeing most action against right-handers.

Den Dekker will be in a battle to break camp as one of the Mets' two backup outfielders, Newsday reports.Den Dekker closed the season strong, batting .290 in 36 games after being called up for the third time on August 9. That batting average was a stark contrast to his first two stints, during which he hit .104. Den Dekker is sold defensively and improved his plate discipline last season, two components that could give him a leg up to earn a spot.

Den Dekker (hand) will return to the lineup Monday against the Marlins. He made a pinch hit appearance in the Mets' last game, but has not started a game since Sept. 9 after getting hit on the hand by a pitch. His .229 batting average and .288 slugging percentage demonstrate just how little value he has in fantasy this season.
