Justin Ruggiano belted his 18th home run of the season, but it wasn't enough as the Marlins dropped the nightcap of Sunday's doubleheader against the Nationals. The solo blast off Stephen Strasburg in the second inning was the only hit for Ruggiano in his four trips to the plate on the night. Despite hitting just .223/.296/.403, the 31-year-old outfielder has been useful in most fantasy formats thanks to his combination of power and speed which has generated 18 homers and 14 stolen bases on the season in 121 games.

Justin Ruggiano blasted a pair of home runs and drove home four, but it still wasn't enough to overcome the Giants on Friday. Ruggiano finished the night 3-for-4 with three runs scored and four RBI. He entered the game as a pinch-hitter in the fourth inning, where he promptly homered off Chad Gaudin. His second blast was a solo shot off Barry Zito in the ninth to cap the scoring for the Marlins. After an 0-for-43 stretch, Ruggiano has now turned in consecutive three-hit efforts.

Justin Ruggiano snapped his 0-for-42 skid by going 3-for-4 with an RBI in the Marlins' 5-2 defeat of the Royals on Wednesday. Ruggiano was promptly caught stealing after his first single, but he made up for it with a couple of more knocks later on. The hits were his first since July 8. He's a candidate to be traded this month if anyone thinks he'd be an asset off the bench. Obviously, he looked like more of one a couple of months ago than he does now.

Juan C. Rodriguez of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that the Marlins have received inquiries about Justin Ruggiano. Rodriguez says the Marlins "aren't actively shopping" Ruggiano and aren't "all that motivated" to trade him at this point. Of course, Ruggiano will be arbitration-eligible over the winter and will be further squeezed out of the outfield picture when Christian Yelich arrives, so a deal certainly can't be ruled out. FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal has reported that the Yankees and Rangers are potential suitors for him.

Justin Ruggiano went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI as the Marlins beat the Braves on Wednesday. Ruggiano's ability was on full display Wednesday, as he hit his 12th home run and also stole his ninth base in the game. He batted leadoff, a spot where he was inserted recently with some success. Continuing to hit leadoff could marginally appreciate his fantasy value.

Justin Ruggiano (shoulder) is expected to return to the Marlins' lineup Saturday. Ruggiano was held out of Friday's game with a strained left shoulder. The Marlins will continue to use him in the leadoff spot when he returns.

Justin Ruggiano (shoulder) is back in Wednesday's lineup against the Twins. Ruggiano was scratched from Tuesday's lineup with a sore left shoulder, but it's not a major concern. He'll bat leadoff against left-hander Scott Diamond.

Justin Ruggiano was scratched from Tuesday's lineup with a sore left shoulder. Ruggiano suffered the injury while diving for a ball over the weekend. Marlins manager Mike Redmond isn't sure how long the outfielder will be sidelined. "We'll see if it's a short-term deal, long-term deal or what," said Redmond. "We'll just have to play it by ear."

Justin Ruggiano went 2-for-4 and homered for the Marlins' only run Wednesday against the Diamondbacks. The homer came off former teammate Heath Bell in the ninth. It's the third straight start in which Ruggiano has collected two hits. Unfortunately, those three games have been spread out over 11 days. He's in line for more at-bats while he's hot, but the Marlins will probably go primarily with their younger outfielders as the season progresses

Justin Ruggiano launched his eighth home run of the season in Monday's loss to the Rays. It was a solo shot. Ruggiano finished the day 1-for-5 with three strikeouts and left seven men on base. While the 31-year-old outfielder has done his part in the power and speed departments thus far, he's hitting just .217 with a .293 on base percentage through 47 games. He could lose his starting job if (or when) the Marlins deem top prospect Christian Yelich ready for the majors.
