Justin Ruggiano (ankle) was scratched from Wednesday's lineup. Ruggiano was scratched Tuesday due to left ankle soreness and evidently isn't back to 100 percent quite yet. However, there's no indication that he's at risk for missing the start of the season. Consider him day-to-day.

Justin Ruggiano was scratched from Tuesday's Cactus League lineup due to left ankle soreness. Consider him day-to-day for now. Ruggiano will likely split playing time in the Cubs' outfield this season and his speed/power combo could make him a decent play in NL-only leagues.

Justin Ruggiano homered and drove home three runs, powering the Cubs to a 10-8 victory over the Brewers in Cactus League action on Sunday. The 31-year-old outfielder finished the day 3-for-3 and is now hitting an impressive .583 (7-for-12) with two homers and seven RBI on the spring season. He's likely to hit in the middle of the Cubs lineup, and while his batting average will be a detriment, his nice blend of power and speed should give him significant mixed league value.

Cubs and OF Justin Ruggiano avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $2 million contract. Ruggiano requested $2.45 million and was offered $1.6 million from the Cubs when arbitration figures were exchanged earlier this month, so the two sides settled for a little under the midpoint. Acquired from the Marlins in December, the 31-year-old figures to serve on the short side of a platoon in Chicago's outfield in 2014.

Justin Ruggiano requested $2.45 million and was offered $1.6 million from the Cubs when arbitration figures were exchanged on Friday. Aside from a brutal stretch in the middle of the season, the 31-year-old outfielder was fairly productive for the Marlins in 2013. He owns a dazzling combination of power and speed and should be an attractive fantasy option as long as he earns everyday at-bats for the Cubs.

Cubs acquired OF Justin Ruggiano from the Marlins for OF Brian Bogusevic. Ruggiano is coming off a down year in which he batted .222/.298/.396 in 128 games, but he hit 15 out of his 18 home runs on the road. The opportunity for playing time should be there with the Cubs and he could rebound in a more hitter-friendly environment.

MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports that the Marlins are listening to offers for outfielder Justin Ruggiano. Ruggiano is arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter and the penny-pinching Fish want to see if they can move him for some rebuilding parts or to fill their vacancy at third base. The 31-year-old had 18 homers and 15 stolen bases in 128 games this past season, but he also batted just .222 with a .298 on-base percentage.
