Teheran pitched four scoreless innings in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Phillies. He allowed one hit and struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
Teheran's velocity has reportedly been up this spring and it showed on Wednesday with the seven strikeouts. The righty now has a 2.00 ERA and 12 strikeouts across 12 innings of work in Grapefruit League play. He's making a very compelling case to earn a rotation spot in Detroit come Opening Day.

Teheran has averaged 92 mph with his fastball in his last two Grapefruit League starts, which is up from last season, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Teheran sat below 90 mph during most of 2020, and he struggled with a 10.05 ERA and 1.76 WHIP across 10 appearances (nine starts) with the Angels. The Tigers are hoping the righty reverts to his 2019 form, when he posted a 3.81 ERA and 1.32 WHIP across 33 starts with Atlanta. Teheran is a non-roster invitee to camp, but he could push his way onto the roster if he looks more like his old self.

Teheran said he didn't have his usual arm or leg strength after contracting COVID-19 last summer, and that impacted his mechanics during the season, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Teheran posted an atrocious 10.05 ERA in 31.1 innings with the Angels, so it's clear he was never quite right after his COVID-19 diagnosis. He ended up signing a minor-league contract with the Tigers earlier this month, but he could earn a rotation spot if he's back to full strength. The righty posted a much better 3.64 ERA on average while with Atlanta from 2013 through 2019.

Teheran signed a minor-league contract with the Tigers as a non-roster invitee Friday, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Teheran held a showcase in January, and he'll settle for a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training. He elected to ink a minor-league deal rather than a guaranteed contract since he'll make $3 million if he makes the big-league roster. The right-hander made 10 appearances (nine starts) for the Angels last season, posting a 10.05 ERA and 1.76 WHIP over 31.1 innings.

Teheran will throw for teams at a showcase scheduled for Tuesday, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Teheran was Atlanta's Opening Day starter in 2019, but he left the team in 2020 to join the Angels. He struggled mightily during the abbreviated season, making 10 appearances (nine starts) while posting a career-worst 10.05 ERA and 1.76 WHIP over 31.1 innings. He'll attempt to demonstrate his abilities during his showcase Tuesday, although it's not yet clear which teams will attend.

Teheran didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's game against the Dodgers, tossing one inning and allowing three runs on two hits and two walks while fanning three.
EDGE Analysis
The Angels had already indicated Teheran would be working out of the bullpen in the final games of the season, but he received another chance to start after scheduled starter Dylan Bundy (finger) was a late scratch. As has been the trend all season long, Teheran didn't take advantage of the chance and delivered another woeful performance. The Colombian ends the season with a career-worst 10.05 ERA in 10 games (nine starts) after not posting an ERA above the 4.50 mark in each of the past seven seasons.

Teheran will start Saturday's game against the Dodgers, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The team indicated earlier in the week that the veteran right-hander had already made his final start of the season and would work out of the bullpen this weekend, but scheduled starter Dylan Bundy (finger) was a late scratch. Teheran hasn't found much success this season with a 9.49 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 17:14 K:BB over 30.1 innings, but he'll look to finish strong in a tough matchup versus the Dodgers.

Teheran will not make another start this season but will be available out of the bullpen for the Angels' final few games, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Angels' off day Thursday means they won't need all of their starters to make one final start. Teheran certainly makes sense as the man to skip, as he owns a very disappointing 9.49 ERA and a 1.68 WHIP in 30.1 innings this season. He was already a very unexciting fantasy option as a starter given his struggles, and he's considerably less interesting as a long reliever.

Teheran (0-4) took the loss Sunday against the Rangers, allowing three runs on two hits and two walks in one-plus innings pitched. He did not record a strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander's outing got off to a rough start, with Joey Gallo taking him deep for a two-run homer in the first inning. He went out for the second, but was pulled after allowing another long ball to Anderson Tejeda and a walk to Derek Dietrich. Teheran's ERA has jumped all the way up to 9.49 after allowing seven earned runs across just three innings during his last two starts. He is scheduled to make his final start of the year Saturday against the Dodgers.

Teheran allowed four runs on three hits and one walk in two innings against Arizona on Tuesday. He did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran didn't give up an exorbitant number of hits, but the three he did yield all left the yard. It was the first time this season that Teheran has allowed three homers in a game, though his 3.07 HR/9 indicates a serious problem with the long ball overall. After a promising appearance against San Diego on Sept. 2, the right-hander has allowed nine earned runs over 6.2 innings across his past two starts. He'll carry an unsightly 8.90 ERA into his next start, currently slated for Sunday at home against Texas.
