J.P. Arencibia went 2-for-5 and delivered a go-ahead three-run double in the seventh as the Blue Jays beat the Tigers 8-6 on Wednesday. Arencibia got a little revenge today after Don Kelly went over the wall in left field to rob him over a homer on Tuesday. He has three homers, four doubles and seven RBI through eight games.

J.P. Arencibia went 3-for-4 with a pair of solo homers in leading the Blue Jays to a 10-8 win over the Indians on Thursday. Arencibia was on fire offensively all spring, with the caveat that free swingers have it a bit easier in March than they do in April and beyond. He should put up some of the best power numbers among major league catchers this season, but it remains to be seen whether he'll improve much on his .221 career average. .240 is probably within reach.

J.P. Arencibia will catch R.A. Dickey in Tuesday's season opener. There was some speculation that Henry Blanco would serve as Dickey's personal catcher this season, but Arencibia has found a comfort level with the knuckleballer in recent weeks, including catching both of his starts during the World Baseball Classic. There's still a chance that things could change down the road, but this arrangement is good news for his fantasy value, as he won't have to sit every fifth day as originally thought.

J.P. Arencibia blasted a solo homer off Phillippe Aumont on Friday, accounting for all of the offensive festivities in a 1-0 victory over the Phillies. It was his only hit in three trips on the night. Arencibia has absolutely murdered the ball during the Grapefruit League season, hitting .439/.477/.902 with five homers and 13 RBI. While he's never going to hit for a high average, he has tremendous power potential and is certainly worth a look in two catcher formats.

Staying red hot, J.P. Arencibia went 3-for-4 with two homers and five RBI as the Phillies blasted the Blue jays 13-4 on Monday. Despite missing time and not playing much in the WBC, Arencibia is 16-for-33 with four homers and three doubles in Blue Jays camp. He has a flawed approach at the plate, and he's never going to hit for a big average in the regular season. Still, 25 homers and 75 RBI isn't completely out of reach.

J.P. Arencibia went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI versus the Orioles on Wednesday. Arencibia didn't play much in the WBC, but it seems like he still has his offensive timing. He's 10-for-23 in his nine games with the Blue Jays.

J.P. Arencibia will play for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic. Arencibia made the announcement on his Twitter account, which was later confirmed by Blue Jays general manager Anthopoulos. He's the third catcher on the squad, joining the Twins' Joe Mauer and the Brewers' Jonathan Lucroy.

T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports that the Rangers are expected to engage in trade discussions with the Blue Jays this winter regarding J.P. Arencibia and Travis d'Arnaud. The Rangers haven't closed the door on re-signing impending free agent Mike Napoli or bringing back Geovany Soto, who is entering his final arbitration year. But, should one or both of them not return, they'll be in the market for catching help. It's very doubtful the Jays would trade d'Arnaud, who is considered the best catching prospect in baseball, but perhaps they'd be willing to part with Arencibia. Toronto claimed Bobby Wilson off waivers Monday, so they now have four options behind the plate in Arencibia, d'Arnaud, Wilson and Jeff Mathis.

J.P. Arencibia belted a grand slam and also had a couple singles in Monday's win over the Orioles. He chipped in with a sac fly, as well, going 4-for-4 with five RBI during the doubleheader. It's the first time since being activated from the DL where Arencibia has done anything, as he entered the day with just two singles in 37 at-bats in September.

Blue Jays activated C J.P. Arencibia from the 15-day disabled list. The Jays' backstop had been sidelined since July 25 with a fractured hand. Arencibia is expected to be eased back into the lineup, so it would probably be wise not to use him in mixed leagues initially.
