CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that Josh Johnson has cleared waivers. It's strictly a procedural move, but he's now eligible to be traded to to any team. Johnson has a 6.20 ERA and 1.66 WHIP over 16 starts this season and is unlikely to attract any interest.

Josh Johnson twirled five shutout innings in a victory Tuesday against the Mariners. The win was Johnson's second of the season, and his first since June 23. Entering the game, he had lost six consecutive starts and allowed five earned runs or more in four straight outings. We would caution against undo optimism over this start. The right-hander lasted only five innings in Safeco Field, one of baseball's most amenable venues to pitchers, and entered the game having posted a 8.84 ERA over his last eight starts.

Josh Johnson could have his next start skipped to give him more time to work through his problems in bullpen sessions. Johnson has been pitching through knee tendinitis and is posting a 8.84 ERA over his last eight starts, so the Blue Jays could skip his next turn in the rotation to get him back on track. "Ideally you don't want to do that, but we have to get something done," manager John Gibbons said. "We have to get Josh straightened out somehow."

Josh Johnson was hammered for seven runs (six earned) over 2 1/3 innings Thursday in a loss to the Angels. Ouch. Johnson gave up 10 hits and two walks while striking out just one batter. He has struggled to the tune of an 8.84 ERA over his last eight starts and has allowed five earned runs or more in each of his last four trips to the mound. Blue Jays manager John Farrell recently said that Johnson has been bothered by knee tendinitis this season, but believes that he can pitch through it. However, we've seen just about enough from a fantasy perspective.

Josh Johnson has suffered from knee tendinitis this season, according to manager John Gibbons. "Nothing major that you can't perform," Gibbons said, "but when you land on it you get that little stinger." Johnson has a miserable 6.08 ERA through 14 starts. His velocity hasn't been a problem and he's still missing bats, but Johnson has consistently been hit hard. A period of rest wouldn't be a bad idea, but Toronto figures to keep sending him out every fifth day.

Josh Johnson struggled once again Saturday, surrendering seven runs over 5 2/3 innings in a loss to the Astros. Ouch. Johnson gave up seven hits, including three home runs, bringing his total to 14 allowed in just 73 1/3 innings this season. The 29-year-old now has a miserable 6.08 ERA through 14 starts. His velocity is fine and he's still missing bats -- he had eight strikeouts this afternoon -- but opposing batters aren't having an issue squaring him up. He can't be trusted in fantasy leagues.

Josh Johnson was pulled after giving up five runs in two-plus innings Monday in a loss to the Dodgers. Johnson retired the first four hitters he faced tonight. He then allowed seven hits, walked a batter and hit another while getting just three more outs. The Jays would seem to be pretty much out of the race after their poor start to the second half, so maybe they should consider trading Johnson. Of course, they're not likely to get much for him. He's turned in just one quality start in his last six outings, and he's now 1-6 with a 5.66 ERA for the season.

Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports was told by two executives that the Blue Jays are telling teams they don't have plans to trade Josh Johnson. With a 5.16 ERA over 12 starts, Johnson's trade value is minimal at the moment. With that in mind, one AL GM said the Blue Jays have considered keeping the impending free agent in order to make him a qualifying offer this offseason. There's always the chance that he could accept what would likely be a one-year deal around $15 million, but if he declines and signs elsewhere, the Blue Jays would receive draft pick compensation next year.

Josh Johnson was hammered for seven runs on seven hits over six innings in a loss to the Orioles on Sunday. Johnson struck out seven, walked one and gave up two homers. A disappointing end to a rough first half for the winter acquisition, who is now 1-5 with a 5.16 ERA and 1.49 WHIP. Prior to this afternoon, Johnson had pitched well since his disabled list activation in early June. Fantasy owners will have to cross their fingers that the veteran can get it together in the second half.

Josh Johnson allowed two runs on three hits over seven innings but took the loss against the Indians on Tuesday. Johnson deserved better, as he allowed just the three hits and two walks while striking out six on the night. Alas, he dropped to 1-4 in 11 starts this season. His final start of the first half will come Sunday against the Orioles in Baltimore.
