Beimel was released from the Rangers on Monday. Beimel signed with the Rangers in March, but struggled to the tune of a 33.00 ERA in the spring. The lefty had success with the Mariners last season, but the soon-to-be 38-year-old might need to accept a minor league role if he lands somewhere else this season.

Beimel struggled in his appearance Saturday, allowing three runs while recording just two outs. Beimel was roughed up in an earlier appearance as well, with his spring ERA now sitting at 33.00. Alex Claudio has fared much better and appears to have the inside track on the primary left-handed relief spot with Texas.

Beimel has signed a major-league deal with the Rangers, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. This shores up what was an incredibly thin left-handed contingent of the Texas bullpen. Beimel was one of the more improbably effective relievers last season, coming back from Tommy John surgery as a 37-year-old to pitch 45.0 innings with a 2.20 ERA. However, it was still improbable, as Beimel outperformed his FIP by nearly two runs. The Rangers needed a left-hander, but no one should expect nearly a strong a season as Beimel's previous one.

Beimel has given up two runs in each of his last two outings, giving up three homers in the process. Beimel had given up just one homer prior to those last two outings, and his overall numbers look pretty strong - 2.03 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, though with only a 23:12 K:BB in 40 innings.

Mariners purchased the contract of LHP Joe Beimel from Triple-A Tacoma. Beimel made the team after allowing just two earned runs over 6 1/3 innings this spring. He'll team with Charlie Furbush as the club's second left-hander.

Joe Beimel (elbow) said that he felt 100 percent after throwing a perfect inning in Thursday's Cactus League contest against the Cubs. The veteran southpaw had gone twelve days between appearances while dealing with inflammation in his surgically repaired elbow. He's still in the mix to earn a spot in the M's bullpen.

Mariners signed LHP Joe Beimel to a minor league contract. The deal includes an invitation to spring training. The 36-year-old southpaw is now fully recovered from Tommy John surgery and has reportedly regained his velocity. He hasn't appeared in the major leagues since he was a member of the Pirates in 2011 and spent the 2013 season at Triple-A Gwinnett where he posted a 4.36 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 24/16 K/BB ratio in 33 innings.

The Braves have promoted Joe Beimel to Triple-A Gwinnett. Beimel had been in extended spring training as he worked his way back from Tommy John surgery. With both Jonny Venters and Eric O'Flaherty on the shelf, the left-hander could eventually be an option for the Braves' bullpen.

Braves signed LHP Joe Beimel to a minor league contract. Beimel is finally recovered from Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery and could help the battered Atlanta bullpen down the line. The 36-year-old right-hander will presumably report to Triple-A Gwinnett.
