Jesse Crain (shoulder) will face hitters in the next few days if Friday's bullpen session goes well. It will be the third bullpen session he's thrown since being shut down. There's no timetable for Crain's return, but he should be able to make it back before the end of the season if he can keep progressing with no setbacks.

Jesse Crain (shoulder) is scheduled to throw off a mound this weekend when the Rays are in Seattle. Crain has made very little progress in his recovery from a right shoulder strain and is no sure bet to join the Tampa Bay bullpen by the end of the regular season. He was acquired from the White Sox on July 29 but has not yet made an appearance in a Rays uniform.

Rays manager Joe Maddon said Wednesday that Jesse Crain (shoulder) is "kinda stuck" in his rehab. Tampa Bay acquired Crain from the White Sox at the July 31 trade deadline, but the 32-year-old right-hander was on the disabled list at the time and might not get off it before the end of the regular season. Crain is scheduled to become a free agent this winter, so this may become a total bust of a move for the Rays.

Rays transferred RHP Jesse Crain from the 15-day disabled list to the 60 day disabled list. The move clears a spot for Brandon Gomes on the 40-man roster. Crain resumed a throwing program this week and is hoping to return at some point in September.

Jesse Crain (shoulder) threw from a distance of 105 feet on Friday. Crain is still in the process of building arm strength through long tossing, but he hopes to begin throwing off a mound by the end of next week. Acquired from the White Sox last month, the 32-year-old has yet to pitch for the Rays due to a shoulder strain. The hope is that he'll be ready to help for the stretch run.
