Jeremy Guthrie threw seven innings of one-run ball to lead the Royals past the Rays on Wednesday. Guthrie was hammered for four runs over 5 2/3 innings last Friday against the White Sox but still escaped with a victory. He was much sharper Wednesday in Kansas City and moved to 2-0 on the year. The right-hander remains a matchup-to-matchup play in fantasy leagues. Next week's tilt in Houston is an attractive one.

Jeremy Guthrie allowed four runs in five innings during Monday's start against the Rockies. Guthrie walked one and allowed six hits, including a solo shot to Troy Tulowitzki in the second inning. Guthrie has a 7.04 on the spring, which isn't really inspiring confidence in his ability to improve upon last season's 4.04 ERA in 211 2/3 innings.

Jeremy Guthrie struggled against the Indians in Thursday's start, giving up three runs (two earned) in three innings. Guthrie allowed five hits and three walks but did strike out five. Strikeouts aren't really his forte, though. He does eat up a lot of innings while issuing relatively few walks.

Jeremy Guthrie allowed three runs in two innings in Monday's start against the White Sox. Guthrie was under pressure from the start in his Cactus League debut, allowing back-to-back singles to start the first inning before allowing a one-out, three-run home run to Andy Wilkins. The right-hander showed improvement last season despite allowing a league-leading 236 hits, finishing with a 4.04 ERA.

The Royals have reworked their contract with Jeremy Guthrie, adding a $10 million mutual option for 2016. Guthrie will make $8 million in 2014 rather than $11 million and his new mutual option will include a $3.2 million buyout. It's the same amount of guaranteed money as the originally-agreed-to deal and clears some room in the Royals' budget to make more upgrades this winter.

Jeremy Guthrie surrendered two runs and four hits in seven innings to beat the White Sox on Thursday. Guthrie finishes the year 15-12 with a 4.07 ERA. It's hardly the best he's ever pitched, but he finished with a winning record for the first time since 2007 and blew past his previous career high for wins by four. The Royals owe him $20 million through 2015, so he'll be back in the rotation next year.

Jeremy Guthrie allowed three earned runs in six innings Saturday in a loss to the Rangers. It was a typical Guthrie start. He gave up seven hits, walked two and struck out only one, falling to 14-12 on the year with a 4.09 ERA. He'll get the White Sox next.

Jeremy Guthrie was charged with three runs on 13 hits in eight innings during Sunday's loss in Detroit. He struck out four and walked one. Guthrie danced out of most of his self-inflicted problems, but Alex Avila had his number and smacked two homers that accounted for all three runs on Guthrie's ledger. This was Guthrie's third consecutive quality start and his fourth out of five. The right-hander drops to 14-11 with a 4.08 ERA.

Jeremy Guthrie had his stuff working Tuesday, tossing six innings of one-run ball in a 6-3 win over the Indians. Guthrie permitted nine hits, but just one of them went for extra bases and he didn't walk anyone. The right-hander has been up-and-down in the second half, allowing four or more runs in five outings but also limiting the opposition to one or zero on five occasions. He'll get a rematch against the Tribe next week in Kansas City.

Jeremy Guthrie tossed seven innings of one run-ball in a tough-luck no-decision against the Blue Jays on Saturday. Guthrie scattered eight hits while walking none and striking out four. He was in line for the win until an error by Alcides Escobar in the eighth opened the door for the Blue Jays to take the lead. The veteran right-hander owns a respectable 4.08 ERA through 28 starts this season, but he doesn't miss enough bats to be a consistent option in mixed fantasy leagues.
