Rangers manager Ron Washington expects Jeff Baker (knee) to be available to play Friday. "He got treatment (Thursday). His mobility is better, but I'm looking for him to be available tomorrow," Washington said. Baker hurt his knee after colliding with the wall in foul territory while making a catch Tuesday. If he's ready, he'll likely start Friday against lefty Scott Diamond.

X-rays on Jeff Baker's right knee came back negative. Baker's knee is still stiff, though, so he'll be held out for a couple days. He could return to action over the weekend.

Jeff Baker will be held out of batting practice Wednesday as he undergoes an X-ray on his right knee. Baker was diagnosed with a bruised knee shortly after colliding with the wall in foul territory while making a catch Tuesday. But more tests are obviously being performed, and we won't know exactly how long he'll be out until the results are disclosed.

Jeff Baker exited Tuesday's game in the first inning after appearing to twist his left ankle while sliding into the wall to make a catch. It was a heck of a catch for the utility player, but he paid for it. Baker was immediately replaced by David Murphy and is surely headed for tests.

Jeff Baker has cracked the Rangers' Opening Day roster. Baker signed a minor league contract with Texas in January and has impressed the team with his play this spring. The 31-year-old utilityman is not fantasy-relevant.

Rangers signed INF/OF Jeff Baker to a minor league contract. The deal includes a spring training invite. Baker, 31, batted just .239/.279/.378 for three different teams in 2012, but is capable of playing multiple positions and owns a career .851 OPS against left-handed pitching. He should compete for a utility role with the Rangers, but won't be guaranteed a spot on the Opening Day roster.
