Jeff Baker left Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Mets due to a sore left hip. Baker is considered day-to-day. The 32-year-old signed a two-year, $3.7 million contract with the Marlins over the winter and figures to be used in a part-time role this year.

Marlins signed INF/OF Jeff Baker to a two-year, $3.7 million contract. Baker could also earn an additional $500,000 in bonuses in each season. The 32-year-old hit .279/.360/.545 with 11 home runs in 74 games last season with the Rangers. He could be moved around all over the field by the Marlins and, at the very least, makes for a nice platoon option at first base with Garrett Jones.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Marlins have agreed to a two-year deal with infielder/outfielder Jeff Baker. Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the deal is worth $3.7 million total and that Baker could earn an additional $500,000 in bonuses in each season. The 32-year-old hit .279/.360/.545 with 11 home runs in 74 games last season with the Rangers and should be a useful part-time player with Miami.

The Marlins and Nationals are interested in free agent infielder Jeff Baker, reports CBS Sports' Jon Heyman. Baltimore might get involved as well. Baker was a useful part-time player with the Rangers last season, slashing .279/.360/.545 with 11 home runs in 74 games, though he faded significantly after a thumb injury around midseason. He's plenty useful as a sort of Swiss Army Knife: Baker can play multiple positions, he has more pop than your typical utility player, and he kills southpaws. As long as he isn't misused, Baker should be a nice bench piece in 2014.

Gerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning News reports that the Rangers are interested in bringing Jeff Baker back as a bench player. Baker was a useful part-time player with the Rangers last season, hitting .279/.360/.545 with 11 home runs in 74 games, though he faded significantly after a thumb injury around midseason. He has a reputation as a lefty-killer and is capable of playing multiple positions, though he's not a great defender at any of them. The Yankees and Nationals are among the other teams who have expressed interest this winter.

The 32-yer-old Baker slashed .279/.360/.545 with 11 home runs in 74 games this past season with Texas and has a reputation as a lefty-killer.

The Giants have not made an offer to Jeff Baker and don't currently plan to, sources tell Alex Pavlovic of the San Jose Mercury News. There was some thought the Giants might be one of the reported 6-7 teams who have expressed some interest in the 32-year-old outfielder, but that's not the case as of right now. Baker had a good season in 2013 and should get a shot to play quite a bit next season with someone. The Nationals are believed to be one of the teams in play.

Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post reports that the Nationals have been in touch with Jeff Baker. Baker elected to become a free agent in mid-October after being designated for assignment by the Rangers. The 32-year-old utilityman hit .279/.360/.545 with 11 home runs in 74 games this past summer for Texas. Washington likes the power he can provide off the bench and his ability to play all four corner positions.
