Jeff Baker (thumb) remains unable to perform baseball activities. The good news is that Baker has reported improvement with his sprained right thumb. He's eligible to return on Friday, but it doesn't seem likely that he'll be ready at that time.

Rangers placed OF Jeff Baker on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right thumb. The move is retroactive to June 13, so Baker will be allowed to return in less than 15 days if he's feeling well enough. He suffered the right thumb sprain last week while trying to give a high-five to a teammate.

Jeff Baker (thumb) is not available to hit Monday. Baker hasn't played since he sprained his right thumb while giving a high-five to his teammate Thursday. As of now, the Rangers are hopeful that he'll be ready to return Wednesday against Athletics' left-hander Tommy Milone.

Jeff Baker was given a cortisone shot in his ailing right thumb on Saturday. Baker hurt the thumb prior to Friday's game after giving someone a high-five. The Rangers are hoping he'll be ready to go in a few days.

Jeff Baker is out of Friday's lineup due to a sprained right thumb. It's too bad, as left-hander Mark Buehrle is on the hill for the Blue Jays on Friday. The good news is that it appears Baker will not require a trip to the disabled list.

Jeff Baker hit a two-run homer and walked Monday against the Indians. Baker, the Yasiel Puig of the American League, has nine homers in just 78 at-bats this season. It's more than he hit in 389 at-bats between 2011-12 (seven) and three off his career high from 2008, when he had 12 in 299 at-bats for the Rockies. The Rangers have been limiting his playing time to starting against lefties, but he does deserve some more at-bats against righties with Mitch Moreland out.

Jeff Baker left Sunday's game with left shoulder soreness. While the injury isn't considered serious, the Rangers may not be able to wait on Baker with Adrian Beltre (hamstring) day-to-day. Baker started at third base Sunday and went 0-for-3 with a strikeout before exiting.

Jeff Baker went 2-for-2 with a two-run homer before being removed for a pinch-hitter Friday against the Mariners. Baker is only playing against left-handers, so manager Ron Washington made the switch back to David Murphy when the Mariners brought in a righty. Baker has been terrific at his job so far, hitting .354 with five homers in 48 at-bats. Still, his fantasy value is quite limited while he plays on average twice a week.

Jeff Baker hit his third home run of the season and his second in as many days on Wednesday, but the Rangers lost to the White Sox. Baker got his second-straight start in the Texas outfield and delivered his second-straight bomb, a solo shot in the second inning off Chris Sale. The utility player is now batting .360/.448/.760, though he's appeared in only 12 games. It's highly unlikely Baker begins to steal starts from the other Rangers outfielders. He can still be ignored outside of deep AL-only leagues.

Jeff Baker had a single and drew a walk in his return to action Saturday. Baker hadn't played since Tuesday when he injured his knee after colliding with the wall in foul territory while making a catch. He'll go back to getting some starts against lefties.
