Gyorko, who's on the injured list with a calf issue and is also nursing a lower-back strain, will undergo a minor arthroscopic procedure on his right wrist Monday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gyorko is certainly getting bang for his buck with respect to his stint on the IL, as he'll now take advantage of his down time to correct wrist pain he's been enduring for more than two years. Gyorko has been getting through the discomfort with periodic shots, but with the versatile utility man out of action due to his two other injuries, this appears to be an opportune time to address what manager Mike Shildt has termed "a cleanup" on a long-standing problem.

Gyorko (back) ran the bases Tuesday and took ground balls during Wednesday's batting practice, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gyorko's recovery from a lower-back strain seems to be advancing smoothly, and barring a setback. he's expected to return when first eligible Tuesday. The versatile veteran is enduring a career-worst season thus far, slashing just .196/.274/.304 with two home runs and seven RBI across 62 plate appearances.

Gyorko was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a lower-back strain.
EDGE Analysis
Gyorko is on the IL for the second time already this season -- he missed time in April due to a calf injury -- and his opportunities have been limited when he's been active (62 plate appearances). After batting over .300 against left-handed pitching in 2017 and 2018, Gyorko has gotten off to a 2-for-15 start against southpaws this season. Tommy Edman was called up to take Gyorko's spot on the active roster.

Gyorko went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk Thursday against the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
Gyorko drew the start at third base with Matt Carpenter catching a breather. He took advantage by taking Jerad Eickhoff deep in the seventh inning for his second homer of the season. A crowded Cardinals' infield will make it difficult for Gyorko to find consistent playing time, and his performance hasn't been strong enough to push the issue as he's hitting just .200/.259/.320 across 54 plate appearances.

Gyorko hit a pinch-hit, game-winning three-run home run in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
Gyorko was called to pinch hit with one out and two runners on during the eighth inning, and crushed an 0-1 pitch 435 feet to center field, providing the Cardinals with the 6-3 lead. The veteran infielder found a huge moment to hit his first home run of the season, though he is still slashing .186/.239/.256 and has seen only 43 at-bats this season.

Gyorko went 2-for-5 with an RBI single in a loss to the Pirates on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Gyorko drew his first start since May 2 and came through with a an RBI single to cap off a four-run first inning for the Cardinals. The veteran endured a dreadful April in which he mainly served in a pinch-hit role, but he's bounced back to go 5-for-14 over the six games thus far in May in which he's logged at least one at-bat.

Gyorko will start at third base and bat seventh Sunday against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Gyorko will enter the lineup for the first time since May 2, checking in at the hot corner while Matt Carpenter receives a rare day off. The irregular action probably hasn't helped Gyorko get into much of a rhythm offensively, as he enters Sunday with a 5-for-29 mark at the plate this season.

Gyorko remains out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Since returning from the 10-day injured list April 5, Gyorko has started just one of the Cardinals' 14 games. The offseason acquisition of Paul Goldschmidt coupled with the early-season excellence of Kolten Wong has served to limit Gyorko's at-bats and make it unlikely the 30-year-old will emerge as an everyday option without the aid of an injury.

Gyorko (calf) was activated from the 10-day injured list Friday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gyorko rejoined the team earlier this week, though his return was delayed one day as Thursday's series opener against the Padres was postponed. The 30-year-old figures to slide into a reserve infield role with the Cardinals after being forced to miss the final weeks of spring training with the calf strain.
