Gyorko is not in the lineup Sunday against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Gyorko has started each game since Sept. 15, but he has just a .630 OPS with no homers since then. He'll get a day off with the Cardinals eliminated from postseason contention, allowing Patrick Wisdom to start at third in his place.

Gyorko is 4-for-11 with two RBI, two walks and a run over the five subsequent games in which he's logged a plate appearance, putting him on pace for another strong month after hitting .325 in August. The second half of the season has been a good one for Gyorko overall, as he's slashed an outstanding .312/.414/.477 across 109 post-All-Star-break at-bats.

Gyorko is not in the lineup against the Dodgers on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Gyorko will head to the bench after going 1-for-5 with one RBI on Thursday, which marked his first start since Aug. 28 after spending some time on the DL with a groin issue. Matt Carpenter will start at third base while Matt Adams gets the nod at first for Friday's outing.

Gyorko (groin) was activated from the 10-day DL on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Gyorko is back on the active roster after missing the past 13 games due to a groin injury. He was withheld from Wednesday's starting lineup and It's unclear as to whether he's ready to jump back into the fold straightaway, but there was no real advantage to keeping him on the disabled list with the expanded 40-man roster. He was able to take some swings in the batting cage earlier this week and is expected to return to his role as the club's starting third baseman once he's fully healthy.

Manager Mike Shildt said Gyorko (groin) could return from the 10-day disabled list Thursday, Rob Rains of StLSportsPage.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gyorko has been sidelined since the end of August with a groin injury. He was able to take swings in the cage Monday and do some agility drill Tuesday, suggesting he's on the cusp of a return. Once Gyorko is active, he should reclaim his role as the team's starting third baseman, pushing Matt Carpenter back to first base and Matt Adams to a reserve role.

Gyorko (groin) took swings in the batting cage Monday, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gyorko has been sidelined since Aug. 29, but he's obviously making progress. The valued infielder appears to be on the brink of activation, but the coming days should offer further clarity on his potential return.

Gyorko (groin) was expected to be activated from the disabled list Saturday but was instead sent back to St. Louis for additional treatment, Jim Hayes of FOX Sports Midwest reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's unclear if Gyorko suffered a specific setback or if he's simply a day or two behind the Cardinals' original schedule, but either way, the sudden change of plans can't be a good sign. In his absence, Matt Carpenter has moved over to third base, opening up first for Matt Adams, an arrangement which should continue until Gyorko can return.

Gyorko (groin) is slated to be activated from the disabled list Saturday but is unlikely to immediately reenter the starting lineup, Tyler Fenwick of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Mike Shildt instead framed Gyorko's potential full-time return to game action as most likely to occur "early next week", with Sunday an outside possibility. However, Shildt went on to add that the infielder was "in a good place" with respect to his health, lending credence to the notion that he'll soon resume his regular role.

Gyorko's (groin) Wednesday MRI results were "favorable" according to manager Mike Shildt, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
The infielder is still inconsiderable discomfort, but Shildt remarked that Gyorko's injury "could have been a lot worse". The Cardinals skipper added that he doesn't expect Gyorko to miss an extended period of time, although a more definitive recovery timetable will likely reveal itself over the coming days as his recovery unfolds. Yairo Munoz and Greg Garcia are expected to be the primary beneficiaries of Gyorko's absence.

Gyorko was put on the 10-day DL on Wednesday due to a left groin strain.
EDGE Analysis
Gyorko suffered the injury during Tuesday's game against the Pirates. As a result, he will require an extended period of time to recover, so the club elected to move him over to the disabled list. He will be eligible to return Sept. 8 in Detroit. In a corresponding move, Adolis Garcia was recalled from the minors. Look for Patrick Wisdom or Greg Garcia to see an uptick in playing time while he's on the shelf. If manager Mike Shildt decides to regularly move Matt Carpenter over to third base in Gyorko's absence, Matt Adams could see some time at first time.
