Shuck will miss a start as a result of the injury Friday, but once healthy, he may continue to play somewhat regularly between the three outfield spots.

Shuck replaces Adam LaRoche, who was a late scratch with knee soreness, in the lineup and will bat sixth in the order. Shuck has played sparingly since returning from the 15-day DL Aug. 16 --- he's collected just four hits in 13 at-bats since the injury.

Chicago White Sox outfielder J.B. Shuck, who was placed on the disable list Aug. 1 with a strained his left hamstring, will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday, according to the team's official website. Shuck is expected to return in a week or two.

Shuck will start in center field and lead off Wednesday against the Astros. With Adam Eaton riding the pine, Shuck will be afforded his fourth start of the year in center and his third start atop the order. Shuck has logged just two at-bats so far this month after going 11-for-44 with one extra-base hit (a double) and four stolen bases in May.

Shuck went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored in the White Sox's loss to the Jays on Tuesday. Shuck got the start in right with Avisail Garcia dealing with a day-to-day leg injury. That injury has resulted in three starts in five games for Shuck, who is the only true reserve outfielder on the White Sox's roster.

Shuck will start in center field and bat leadoff for the White Sox on Sunday against the Twins. Shuck will start his third straight game over Adam Eaton, who is dealing with an illness and isn't with the team. The 27-year-old Shuck provides sneaky utility in this role, but his presence there will likely be short-lived.
