Werth (groin) is not in the lineup for Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Phillies, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Werth aggravated his groin injury during Saturday's contest, so it's no surprised to see him out of the starting lineup for the first game of Sunday's doubleheader. It's likely that he'll sit out Game 2, as well, though we'll have to wait until the lineups are released to be certain. Brian Goodwin will man left field for Game 1 in Werth's absence.

Werth aggravated the groin muscle injury he sustained last month, but he said it wasn't as bad as the original occurrence and could play one game of Sunday's doubleheader, Mark Zuckerman of MASNsports.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Nationals likely will be careful with the soon-to-be 38-year-old, perhaps holding him out of both games of the Sunday twin bill against the Phillies. Werth went 1-for-4 with two walks and a run scored before leaving. His absence would probably pave way for extra work by Chris Heisey and perhaps Brian Goodwin.

A late insertion into Wednesday's lineup, Werth proceeded to go 2-for-3 with a homer and two walks against the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
Judging by the past two seasons, Werth seemed well into his decline phase, but he's had alternate plans in the early going this year, hitting .299 with an even .900 OPS through 30 games. With six homers and three steals to go with 20 runs on the year, he's provided a nice fantasy package, but buyer beware: Werth's strikeout rate has risen to 26.6 percent (its highest mark since 2005, when he hit .234 for the Dodgers) and his .379 BABIP makes him a strong regression candidate.

Updating a previous report, Werth was added to the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Orioles. He'll bat second in the order and play left field.
EDGE Analysis
The Nationals' initial lineup excluded Werth in favor of Chris Heisey, but manager Dusty Baker apparently had second thoughts and decided to hand Werth his 17th straight start. It's possible that Baker will look to give Werth a day off at some point during the Nationals' weekend series with the Phillies.

Werth is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Orioles, Jorge Castillo of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Werth has started the Nationals' previous 16 games, so it looks to be the case where manager Dusty Baker is just granting the veteran a day off. Chris Heisey will move into the lineup, batting seventh and manning left field.

Werth went 3-for-4 with a double, two home runs, three RBI and three runs during Sunday's extra-innings loss to Philadelphia.
EDGE Analysis
After hitting sixth or seventh for the majority of the season, Werth has hit second the past seven games and posted a .345/.424/.586 slash line and scored seven runs. If he stays in the two-hole, it'll be a huge fantasy boon, and the veteran could finish among the league leaders in runs. He's also stolen three bases this season, so Werth's ability to move the needle across all fantasy categories shouldn't be underestimated, either.

Werth is batting second in the lineup and playing left field during Sunday's game against the Mets, Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sunday morning's initial lineup had Michael Taylor in the two-hole and Werth batting seventh. It appears that manager Dusty Baker had a change of heart and has elected to flip-flop the two outfielders in the lineup. Hitting in front of the likes of Bryce Harper, Ryan Zimmerman and Daniel Murphy is any hitter's dream.

Werth was lifted from Sunday's game in the eight inning, but manager Dusty Baker said afterward that his removal was not injury-related, Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Werth missed the finale against Atlanta and the first two games of the Mets series with a groin issue. Fortunately, it was not a setback of any kind that forced him out Sunday; rather Baker had planned all along to take Werth out late in the game on a cold night in New York. The skipper suggested he will do the same thing in Colorado.

Werth is back in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets after sitting out the previous three games with a groin injury, Jorge Castillo of the Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Werth said after he first got injured that he believed he'd be able to avoid a trip to the disabled list, and it appears he was right. He'll look to continue his solid start to the season in which he has slashed .289/.347/.489 in 49 plate appearances thus far.

The Nationals are targeting a Sunday return to the lineup for Werth (groin), Dan Kolko of MASN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Werth is not starting Friday for the second day in a row, and it looks like he will be held out of the lineup at least one more day. It's not clear if he will be available off the bench this weekend, but with the Nationals anticipating him missing more action beyond Friday's contest, it's likely the team will try to avoid using him if possible.
