Werth (toe) has played in five rehab games, over which he's gone 3-for-11 (.273) and drawn two walks.
EDGE Analysis
Werth began his rehab assignment with Triple-A Syracuse but was moved to High-A Potomac on Friday. It's still unclear when Werth will come off the disabled list. However, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reported that Werth plans to meet with manager Dusty Baker after this weekend's series against the Mets to discuss his eventual activation, so additional information should become available in the near future.

Werth (toe) went 1-for-3 while playing five innings in left field in his first rehab game with Triple-A Syracuse on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Werth singled his first at-bat and then flied out and lined out in his subsequent two plate appearances before heading to the bench in the top of the sixth inning. According to Mark Zuckerman of MASNsports.com, it's expected that Werth will stick with Syracuse through at least early next week, at which point the Nationals will assess the progress he's made in his recovery from the small fracture and bone bruise on his left foot. Once he's activated from the 60-day disabled list, Werth should settle back into an everyday role in left field.

Werth (toe) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Syracuse on Monday, Dan Kolko of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
He has been out since June 3, so this rehab assignment could last for more than just a couple games. Werth was hitting .262/.367/.446 with eight home runs and four steals in 196 plate appearances prior to suffering the injury. Once activated, he should see everyday at-bats in an effort to get locked in before the postseason.

Werth (toe) was able to run around the bases in cleats prior to Wednesday's game against the Angels, and will head down to West Palm in the coming days before embarking on a rehab assignment, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
This marked the first time that Werth was able to undergo extensive running with baseball cleats on, and appears ready to ramp up his rehab efforts in West Palm in the near future. He's been able to hit since the end of July, but getting out onto the field and running has been the biggest hurdle in front of Werth while dealing with the toe and foot injury. The outfielder has been on the disabled list since early June, yet he should be in line for a return to the big leagues by the end of the month, barring any setbacks.

Werth (toe) is expected to do some legitimate running Saturday, Dan Kolko of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Werth has been restricted to light jogging so far in his rehab, but the 38-year-old is finally going to push his limits. Barring any setbacks, this should be one of the final hurdles he needs to clear before heading out on a minor-league rehab assignment. Given the extended length of his absence, he'll likely need all 20 days on a rehab assignment before he is ready to rejoin the Nats.

Werth (toe) is likely to embark on a rehab assignment within the next two weeks if all goes as planned during his cardio exercises, Jamal Collier of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Werth was also able to compete in a simulated game, with Stephen Strasburg (elbow) throwing to him prior to Washington's game against the Marlins on Wednesday. The outfielder could start a rehab assignment as soon as a week from now if he's able to make good progress, but will need a decent amount of time shaking off the rust at the minor-league level before rejoining the Nationals.

Werth (toe) has yet to resume running during his rehab at the Nationals' spring-training facility in Florida, Dan Kolko of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
It was expected that Werth would be ready to play in simulated games this week, but with his toe injury still limiting him in the field and on the bases, it could take some more time before the veteran outfielder moves on to the next phase of his rehab. The Nationals have yet to issue a formal timetable for Werth's return from the 60-day disabled list, but based on where he's currently at in the rehab process, a late-August or early-September return may be a best-case scenario.

Werth (toe/foot) will take at-bats in simulated games at the team's facilities in Florida, Jorge Castillo of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Castillo also noted that the veteran outfielder has already gotten back to full running on treadmills, so the only hurdle in Werth's way is getting back into game shape. If all goes well in Florida, he expects to return to the team in about a week, although things should become clearer after he actually gets through the sim games.

Werth (toe/foot) hit in a simulated game Wednesday, Dan Kolko of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is good progress for the veteran, as he had previously been set back due to a foot fracture on top of his toe injury. Werth seems to be able to do everything except for running at this point, so a clearer timetable for his return should emerge once he's able to move better.

Werth (toe/foot) was transferred to the 60-day DL on Sunday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNsports.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Werth has been out since June 3 due to a toe injury and foot fracture, and this move is merely procedural -- it doesn't change his timetable at all. Instead, it will open up a spot on the 40-man roster for the Nationals to call up some outfield depth. Werth will now be eligible to return in the first week of August.
