FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Diamondbacks have signed Jason Kubel to a two-year deal. The contract, which is pending a physical, will also carry an option for 2014. Kubel drew only mild free agent interest this winter after batting .273/.332/.434 with 12 homers and 58 RBI over 401 plate appearances in 2011 for the Twins. He's likely to see playing time in left field and at first base for the Snakes in 2012.

Jason Kubel is expected to sign soon, but will not re-sign with the Twins, according to LaVelle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. The Twins don't have the payroll to commit to a long-term deal with Kubel, nor do they have a surefire lineup spot for him after signing Josh Willingham to play right field and Ryan Doumit to DH. Minnesota is likely to turn their efforts to acquiring starting pitching instead. Kubel was limited to just 99 games this season due to a lingering foot injury, batting .273/.332/.434 with 12 homers and 58 RBI over 401 plate appearances. The Twins will receive a sandwich pick when the Type B free agent signs elsewhere. The Indians are one team known to have interest in the 29-year-old. Kubel is likely looking for a two- or three-year contract worth about $7-8 million per season.

The Twins are not optimistic about bringing back Jason Kubel, a source tells Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com. The Twins won't be able to compete with the market for Kubel and will instead focus their efforts on acquiring starting pitching. Morosi adds that Joel Pineiro, Jeff Francis, and Jon Garland are all possible options, assuming Garland can demonstrate his health.

Joe Christensen of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that the Twins have "increased their efforts" to re-sign free agent Jason Kubel. The Twins saved some money when they signed Josh Willingham rather than re-up with Michael Cuddyer, and now it appears their next order of business will be to retain Kubel. Christensen says Kubel's agent was "getting a lot of calls" Friday, so it sounds like there will be some competition for his services. The Indians are one team known to have interest in the 29-year-old.

Jason Kubel will be offered arbitration by the Twins. Another expected move. Kubel was limited to just 99 games this season due to a lingering foot injury, batting .273/.332/.434 with 12 homers and 58 RBI over 401 plate appearances. The Twins would receive a sandwich pick if the Type B free agent declines arbitration and signs elsewhere.

The Indians are interested in free agent outfielder Jason Kubel, according to Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Kubel was limited to just 99 games this season due to a lingering foot injury, batting .273/.332/.434 with 12 homers and 58 RBI over 401 plate appearances. The 29-year-old isn't exactly the perfect fit for the Indians' righty-heavy lineup, but he has pop and experience playing both corner outfield positions. Hoynes speculates that he is likely looking for a two- or three-year contract worth about $7-8 million per season.

Jayson Stark of ESPN.com reports that the Phillies are interested in free agent Jason Kubel. Kubel is likely a fall-back plan if the Phillies are unable to reach an agreement with his former teammate, Michael Cuddyer. Kubel has said that he wants to sign with someone to play the outfield rather than DH, and the Phils would obviously provide him with that opportunity. The 29-year-old is coming off an injury-plagued season that saw him bat .273/.332/.434 with 12 homers and 58 RBI over 401 plate appearances.

Free agent Jason Kubel said in and interview on Sirius-XM Saturday that he wants to sign with a team that will allow him to play the outfield. Kubel is terrible defensively, but evidently he's tired of being slotted into the designated hitter role as often as he was for Minnesota. Not surprisingly, he also added that he wants to sign with a contender (and thinks the Twins will bounce back to become one in 2012). Ultimately, he'll probably wind up choosing the team that gives him the best deal even if they aren't that good and want him to DH. Kubel, 29, is coming off an injury-plagued season that saw him bat .273/.332/.434 with 12 homers and 58 RBI over 401 plate appearances.

Jason Kubel said his sprained left foot is no longer an issue. Kubel had problems with the foot for most of the season, but he never had any structural damage and evidently all it needed was a few weeks of rest. An impending free agent, the 29-year-old Kubel doesn't anticipate any meaningful talks with the Twins before the team's exclusive negotiating rights run out. "You've waited this long, you might as well wait a few more days," Kubel said. "... I'm pretty excited [about free agency]. There's all kinds of possibilities. You get a chance to actually choose this time."

Jason Kubel (foot) will not play again this season. Kubel hasn't played since September 16 due to a sprained left foot, so he was doubtful to make an appearance in the final two games of the season, anyway. The impending free agent will finish the year with a .273/.332/.434 batting line to go along with 12 homers, 58 RBI and a .766 OPS over 401 plate appearances.
