Hammel allowed two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out seven batters through five innings during Thursday's loss to St. Louis. He didn't factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran had allowed three runs or fewer in 11 of his past 12 starts and posted a 3.74 ERA and 1.15 WHIP during that stretch, so it was more of the same from Hammel on Thursday. His 7.1 K/9 for the campaign isn't a standout mark, but in the majority of fantasy settings, Hammel is providing serviceable numbers. He lines up to face the Athletics at Oakland Coliseum in his next start.

Hammel (5-9) allowed three runs on six hits and a walk with three strikeouts over 6.1 innings in a loss Friday to the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
Hammel has now recorded quality starts in three of his past four appearances, but he has picked up just one win in that stretch. He owns an uninspiring 4.73 ERA and has struck out more than four batters just once in his last five outings, giving him limited fantasy utility even at his best.

On the heels of an encouraging month of June, Hammel regressed in July by going 1-2 with a 4.75 ERA over six starts and 36 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Hammel showed incredible command in June, posting the AL's lowest walk rate while managing his best FIP (3.86) since April of 2016. July saw the veteran's numbers fall more in line with what's been the story of his career. For example, Hammel -- who owns a career 69.9 percent strand rate -- escaped June by leaving 88.5 percent of runners left on base, but ended July with a 65.2 percent mark. The 34-year-old is serviceable in AL-only leagues, but there's a plethora of better options in mixed formats.

Hammel (5-8) allowed three runs on seven hits with no walks across six innings in Sunday's win over the Red Sox. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
Hammel allowed two runs on four hits in the second inning before conceding a solo home run to Rafael Devers in the fifth. He actually left facing a two-run deficit, but a Royals rally in the eighth and some solid work by the bullpen earned him his fifth win. Though Hammel has taken his lumps at times this season, he has now allowed three runs or fewer in 10 of his last 11 starts to lower his ERA to 4.75. Next up for the veteran is a home matchup with the Mariners on Friday.

Hammel allowed three runs on five hits and one walk while striking out four batters through 5.2 innings during Monday's win over Detroit. He didn't factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
After posting a solid 3.56 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 7.0 K/9 through his previous nine outings, this was another encouraging outing from Hammel. There is still a little too much start-to-start inconsistency to view him as a set-and-forget asset, but the turnaround has been noteworthy. Hammel lines up for a tough matchup against the Red Sox at Fenway Park in his next start.

Hammel allowed only one run on four hits and a walk over 6.1 innings but had to settle for a no-decision in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Tigers. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
Kelvin Herrera was battling a fever and blew the save in the top of the ninth inning, denying Hammel his fifth win of the year despite a strong effort. After a rough start to the season the veteran righty has turned things around, producing quality starts in six of his last nine outings while posting a 3.56 ERA and 1.19 WHIP over that stretch. He'll get a rematch with the Tigers in Detroit on Monday.

Hammel allowed three runs on four hits and two walks with four strikeouts over 5.2 innings in a no-decision Friday against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Hammel was sharp, as he induced 18 swinging strikes, but he struggled to close out counts when he needed to. As a result, it took 108 pitches for him to record 17 outs, and he seemed to be tiring by the sixth inning, when Adrian Beltre tagged him for a three-run home run to blow up what had been a shutout through the first five. Hammel's ERA sits at 5.02.

Hammel will take the mound Friday against Texas in the first game back from break, The Associated Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
His 4-8 record and 5.04 ERA don't exactly scream success, but Hammel has been better of late. Outside of a July 1 implosion against Minnesota, the veteran has been strong since leaving May with a 6.18 ERA. The right-hander has logged quality starts in five of his last seven outings -- he'd managed just three in his first 10 games. Furthermore, Hammel owns a strong 37:9 K:BB over his last 43.2 innings. That's not to say jump aboard the train, but the 34-year-old isn't a bad option Friday against a Rangers club with the AL's second-worst team batting average (.240) through the first half.

Hammel (4-8) allowed three runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out seven batters during Friday's loss to the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Despite taking the loss, the Dodgers are scorching hot and boast a deep lineup, so this was actually one of Hammel's better outings of the year. His 5.04 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 7.3 K/9 don't jump off the page, but Hammel has now allowed three runs or fewer in six of his past seven starts. An improved second half isn't out of the question with Hammel building momentum heading into the All-Star break.

Hammel (4-7) allowed seven runs -- six earned -- on nine hits and two walks while striking out five batters through 5.1 innings during Saturday's loss to Minnesota.
EDGE Analysis
This was a disappointing outing for Hammel, as he appeared to be trending in the right direction with three wins, a 2.51 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 7.0 K/9 over his prior five starts. That encouraging stretch also featured outings against Cleveland, Houston and Boston, so overreacting to Saturday's poor showing isn't encouraged. However, Hammel also owns a discouraging 5.08 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 7.1 K/9 for the season, so expectations should remain in check going forward. He also lines up for a daunting road start against the Dodgers next.
