Grilli allowed one run on two hits, walking one and striking out one while recording just the one out in the Braves 4-3 loss to Pittsburgh on Friday night. Grilli (2-3, 2.93 ERA) came on with the game tied at 3-3 to start the bottom of the tenth. A hit and an intentional walk was followed by a walk-off double off the bat of Jordy Mercer to end it. Grilli has done a respectable job for the Braves as he attempts to replace Craig Kimbrel, so he will likely continue to see the majority of save chances.

Grilli allowed an unearned run Monday, but was still able to lock down his 17th save of the season. It was the second time Grilli has allowed an unearned run this month, and he hasn't allowed an earned run since May 27. The veteran closer has a 3.09 ERA this season in 23.1 innings this season.

Grilli picked up his second win of the season Saturday, pitching a perfect 10th inning and striking out one. It's a bit unusual that Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez elected to use Grilli in extra innings in a tie game on the road rather than holding him back to protect any lead they might get in the top half of a frame, but it worked out for Atlanta. Grilli now has a solid 3.22 ERA and 29:8 K:BB ratio in 22.3 innings, and the biggest threat to his spot as the team's closer is the possibility that he gets dealt before the trade deadline.

Grilli blew his second save of the season on an unearned run in Tuesday's extra inning loss to San Diego. The error was Grilli's own after he allowed a Yonder Alonso ground rule double to open the inning. He is a sharp 15-of-17 on save chances with a 12.1 K/9 but his 1.31 WHIP is nearly identical to last year's mark, and a steady flow of baserunners rarely bodes well for a closer.

Grilli struck out one in a scoreless ninth on Sunday against the Giants to pick up his 15th save of the season. The veteran closer's 4.15 ERA is still a bit high after being scored upon four times in his last nine appaerences, but his 15 saves and his stellar 12.4 K/9 still make him an attractive fantasy option. Grilli is locked in to the ninth inning role for Atlanta as long as he puts his recent struggles behind him.

Grilli gave up a home run to Alex Guerrero on Wednesday but escaped with his 14th save of the season. While Grilli has a less than stellar 4.41 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in 17 appearances this season, he's given up multiple runs just once and is 14-for-15 in save opportunities. Jim Johnson has been very good in a setup role (2.42 ERA, 1.12 WHIP) and has picked up a couple of saves, he does not appear to be a serious threat to Grilli's closer job at this point.

Grilli gave up a hit and no runs while striking out one Wednesday against the Rays to pick up his 12th save of the season. Despite having a 4.73 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP, Grilli is now 12 of 13 in save opportunities. Wednesday's outing was Grilli's first in four days after having given up runs in four of his past six outings.

Grilli gave up one run on two hits Saturday, but got Giancarlo Stanton to fly out with a runner on base to preserve a 5-3 Braves win and pick up his 11th save of the season. Pitching on back-to-back days, Grilli scuffled but was still able to get the job done. He's been scored on in four of his last six appearances, however, and while his recent back spasms bear some of the blame, a 5.11 ERA isn't going to keep him in the closer role much longer if he doesn't start bringing it down.

Grilli logged his tenth save of the season, allowing just a walk in a scoreless ninth inning as the Braves defeated Miami 5-3 Friday night. Grilli suffered some back spasms a few days ago, and had a couple of shaky outings after returning to his bullpen duties. He followed Jim Johnson to the hill after Johnson twirled a scoreless eighth inning in this one, and appears to be secure in his closer's role.

Grilli (back) took the loss Tuesday, giving up one earned run on two hits with one strikeout in the bottom of the ninth inning against the Reds. This was Grilli's first appearance in six days after being sidelined by a sore back. He came in during a tie game and gave up a one-out single to Brayan Pena and then Devin Mesoraco hit a game-winning pinch-hit double. While it was tough to see him surrender runs Tuesday, it was nice to see that he was healthy enough to pitch. He should continue to operate as the Braves' closer going forward.
