Happ, who missed the first week of spring training after testing positive for COVID-19, recently threw two innings of live batting practice, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Twins will bring Happ along slowly, but at this point it sounds like he'll be ready for the start of the regular season. He could make his spring training debut in the next week.

Happ (illness) has cleared all COVID-19-related protocols and is scheduled to join the Twins for workouts Tuesday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Happ has been absent thus far from camp after testing positive for COVID-19 in February, but the veteran southpaw wasn't believed to be dealing with any serious symptoms as a result of the virus. That said, expect the Twins to take it slowly with Happ during the ramp-up process, with his Grapefruit League debut unlikely to come within the next week. However, with Opening Day still nearly a month away, Happ should have sufficient time to build up to a starter's workload by the time his first turn in the rotation comes up during the regular season.

Happ has tested positive for COVID-19, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Happ isn't currently experiencing any symptoms, but he'll have a delayed start to spring training after his positive COVID-19 result during intake testing. It's not yet clear when he'll be able to join the team or whether his absence will impact his buildup ahead of Opening Day. The southpaw made nine starts for the Yankees in 2020, recording a 3.47 ERA and 1.05 WHIP over 49.1 innings, and he should join the Twins' starting rotation once he's healthy.

Happ signed a one-year contract with the Twins on Wednesday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Happ had his $17 million option for 2021 declined by the Yankees in October, and he'll join the Twins on a one-year deal worth $8 million, per Jon Heyman of MLB Network. The 38-year-old made nine starts for New York in 2020, posting a 3.47 ERA and 1.05 WHIP over 49.1 innings. He'll attempt to build on his production during his first season in Minnesota.

The Yankees declined Happ's $17 million option for 2021 on Friday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran southpaw's 2021 option was set to vest if he reached the pro-rated totals of 62 innings or 10 starts this season, but he fell short in both categories. Happ made nine starts in 2020 with a 3.47 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 42:15 K:BB across 49.1 innings, and it's not much of a surprise the team wasn't interested at the $17 million figure.

Happ allowed three runs on three hits (one home run) and two walks while striking out three across five innings Friday against the Marlins. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Happ walked consecutive hitters after getting two quick outs in the first inning to bring up Garrett Cooper, who quickly turned on a first-pitch fastball that flew over the fence in right to put the Marlins up 3-0. Happ was able to get through the rest of his outing without yielding another run and escaped getting dealt the loss after the Yankees were able to tie it up in the eighth. The southpaw will head into the postseason with a 3.47 ERA and career-best 1.05 WHIP across 49.1 innings.

Happ (2-2) allowed four hits and no walks while striking out nine across eight scoreless innings to earn the win Saturday against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Happ turned in his longest outing of the season, tossing 113 pitches while keeping the Red Sox off the board. He got 11 groundouts in addition to the nine strikeouts, all while allowing just two extra-base hits. In his last three starts, Happ has allowed only three runs across 19.1 frames while racking up 24 strikeouts and two walks. He's in line for his final turn through the rotation Thursday in Toronto.

Happ allowed one run on five hits and no walks while striking out five over five innings in Sunday's win against the Orioles. He didn't factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Both starters were quite effective Sunday, and Happ was unable to return to the win column as much of the Yankees' run production came late in the contest. The southpaw now has a 3.96 ERA and 30:13 K:BB over 36.1 innings this season. He should take the mound again on the road Saturday against the Red Sox.

Happ (1-2) allowed two earned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out 10 across 6.1 innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Blue Jays.
EDGE Analysis
Happ was a tough-luck loser, allowing only a two-run homer in the second inning to Jonathan Davis. He was dominant otherwise, limiting the Blue Jays to just one other extra-base hit in the outing. It was by far a season-best strikeout total for Happ, doubling his next best mark. After struggling early on this season, Happ has now lowered his ERA to a respectable 4.31 mark across 31.1 innings -- though he has handed out 13 free passes. He's currently lined up to draw his next start Sunday against Baltimore.

Happ allowed four earned runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out four across five innings Thursday against the Mets. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Happ allowed only a solo home run through three innings, surrendering three hits in the process. However, he was hit hard in the fourth frame, permitting five hits and three earned runs. Entering Thursday's contest, Happ had surrendered only one earned run in his past two outings -- spanning 13 innings. He now has a 4.68 ERA through five starts to go along with a 15:11 K:BB. Happ is in line to take his next turn through the rotation Tuesday at Toronto.
