Davis was released from his minor-league contract with the Rangers on Sunday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Davis inked a minor-league contract with the Rangers in February with the hope that an opening would arrive for the big-league club, but it never materialized, despite the fact that the 29-year-old hit a respectable .268/.350/.437 in 142 at-bats at Triple-A. The first baseman shouldn't have trouble finding a minor-league deal elsewhere, but it's uncertain if he'll get another shot in the majors in 2016.

Davis (knee) was activated from the 15-day DL and optioned to Triple-A Round Rock.
EDGE Analysis
Davis is expected to spend most of the year in the minors as long as both Prince Fielder and Mitch Moreland remain healthy with the Rangers.

Davis (knee) will remain in Rangers camp after rosters are announced to continue with his rehab, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Jeff Wilson reports.
EDGE Analysis
Davis won't make the big league club, and will be ticketed for Triple-A once his rehab is complete. His .251/.352/.443 career slash line against righties might be enough to garner at-bats in another organization, but the Rangers are pretty set at first base and designated hitter.

Davis (knee) is unlikely to make the Opening Day roster, TR Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Assistant general manager Thad Levine spoke on Davis' status Wednesday, stating that his sprained knee has drastically affected his chances at making the 25-man roster out of camp. Davis, a non-roster invitee, has been sidelined since March 10 due to the injury, and it now looks all but certain that he'll start the year in the minor leagues. Mitch Moreland, Justin Ruggiano, and Prince Fielder will be the primary first base options for the Rangers to start the year in all likelihood.

Davis (knee) remains at least a week away from returning, the team's web site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Davis has been limited to just eight at-bats this spring, and the injury figures to have cost him whatever small chance he had at making the roster out of spring training.

Davis is day-to-day with a mild right knee sprain, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Stefan Stevenson reports.
EDGE Analysis
He is likely to begin the season at Triple-A and serve as organizational first base/DH depth, so this is not a major development in fantasy circles. Look for him to get back into Cactus League action sometime next week.

Davis signed a minor league contract that included an invite to spring training with the Rangers on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Davis underwent season-ending surgery to repair a torn labrum in August of 2015 after a disappointing year with Oakland. With a slash line of .229/.301/.350 the 28-year-old was expected to generate some pop, but only failed to hit three home runs in 214 plate appearances. The Rangers will hope Davis can regain his look from 2012 when he hit 32 home runs and added 90 RBI's for the Mets.

Davis is expected to sign a minor-league deal with Texas, the team's web site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Davis owns a career .794 OPS against right-handed pitching, but struggled through a hip injury for much of 2015 and slashed just .229/.301/.350. He'll be hard-pressed to carve out any sort of role with Prince Fielder and Mitch Moreland entrenched at DH/1B and prospect Joey Gallo looming at Triple-A Round Rock.

Davis was not tendered a contract by the A's, Joe Stiglich of CSN Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
Davis will move on from the Athletics organization after appearing in 74 games and hitting just .229 last season. The 29-year-old has been on a downward trajectory since a strong 2011 campaign with the Mets, and he may have to settle for a minor league deal to attempt to rejuvenate his career.

Davis (hip) is expected to be ready for spring training next season, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Davis underwent arthroscopic knee surgery Thursday, and now will begin the rehab process. If he can rehab without a major setback of some kind, he should be ready to go for the start of next season.
