Krol's contract was selected from Triple-A Toledo prior to Wednesday's game against Texas.
EDGE Analysis
Krol signed a minor-league deal with Detroit in December. He was sent to the club's alternate site following the conclusion of spring training and was later assigned to Toledo. The southpaw posted a 2.42 ERA and 26:10 K:BB across 22.1 Triple-A innings and he will now return to the majors for the first time since making one appearance with the Angels in 2018. Spencer Turnbull (forearm) was moved to the 60-day IL to make room for Krol on the 40-man roster.

The Tigers reassigned Krol on Tuesday to their alternate training site in Toledo.
EDGE Analysis
The team had already informed Krol that he wouldn't make the Opening Day roster, but this move makes it official. The righty was attempting a comeback after last pitching at the MLB level in 2018 and getting a 50-game suspension in August 2019 following a second positive test for a drug of abuse. Krol should eventually end up at Triple-A Toledo and will give the Tigers some organizational depth this season.

The Tigers informed Krol on Wednesday that he won't be included on the club's Opening Day roster, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Krol will still remain with the Tigers for the remainder of the Grapefruit League season before heading to minor-league camp. The non-roster invitee made a spirited bid for a bullpen role this spring, striking out nine in six scoreless innings.

Krol (suspension) is expected to pitch in one of the Tigers' first few Grapefruit League games, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Tigers kick off their spring training schedule with games Sunday and Monday, and it's expected that Krol will get a look right away as he attempts to return to the majors. The lefty last pitched at the MLB level in 2018 with the Angels and he's set to serve a 50-game suspension for a second positive test for a drug abuse in 2019. He also pitched for Detroit in 2014 and 2015, compiling a 5.34 ERA in 78 games out of the bullpen.

EDGE Analysis
Krol made one relief appearance for the Angels in 2018 but otherwise pitched exclusively at the Triple-A level between Salt Lake and Las Vegas, logging a 2.72 ERA and 59 strikeouts over 56.1 innings. EDGE Analysis
Krol was designated for assignment by the Angels on May 28, but he chose free agency instead of heading to Triple-A Salt Lake. Since then, he's inked a minor-league deal with the Mets, and he'll report to their Triple-A affiliate, the 51s. Krol appeared in 18 minor-league games this season, accruing a 2.12 ERA and 1.00 WHIP along with 20 strikeouts across 17 innings.
