Tigers placed LHP Ian Krol on the 15-day disabled list with left shoulder inflammation. Krol had mentioned to Tigers manager Brad Ausmus this week that he was experiencing dead arm. He owns a 4.32 ERA with 20 strikeouts in 25 innings pitched this year. There is no timetable for his return.

Ian Krol mentioned to manager Brad Ausmus that he has been experiencing dead arm. When asked, manager Brad Ausmus said he believes some extended rest for Krol may possibly help the reliever. Krol has a 4.32 ERA with with 20 strikeouts in 25 innings pitched this season.

Ian Krol dealt with some discomfort in his left shoulder during his last appearance on Saturday. Krol said it's something he usually deals with each year, and he's already feeling better. "I've had the same thing [in the past]," Krol said before Monday's game. "It's not pain, just aggravating." It's not clear whether Krol will be available Monday, but it sounds like this isn't a long-term concern.

Tigers acquired LHP Ian Krol in the Doug Fister trade. Krol posted a 3.95 ERA with 22 strikeouts over 27 1/3 innings for the Nationals this past season. With Drew Smyly moving into the rotation, the Tigers will count on him as one of their main lefties in the bullpen.

Nationals recalled LHP Ian Krol from Triple-A Syracuse. The 22-year-old southpaw has solid numbers on the season, registering a 3.24 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 20/7 K/BB ratio over 25 innings with the Nationals, but had struggled over his last eight appearances before being sent down on August 20. He'll work in a middle relief role.

Nationals optioned LHP Ian Krol to Triple-A Syracuse. Krol has really struggled of late, posting a 6.43 ERA over his last eight appearances. The left-hander will be back next month.

Ian Krol has tossed 9 2/3 scoreless innings while boasting a 12/1 K/BB ratio in nine appearances since being called up by the Nationals. Krol made the full-time move to relief this season and has really seen his stuff play up, as he's sitting comfortably in the mid-90s now. The Nats entered the season with left-handed relief innings, but it appears they've found diamonds in the rough in Krol and Fernando Abad, who holds a 1.42 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 14/1 K/BB ratio over 12 2/3 frames.
