Ryu (1-1) earned the win Sunday, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks over five innings against the Cubs. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Ryu was able to keep his normal turn in the rotation and pitched well despite being forced from his last start after taking a comebacker off his right knee. Making just his third start of the season after returning from Tommy John surgery, Ryu allowed two unearned runs in the first inning, then allowed only one more hit over his next four frames as the Jays staked him to a six-run lead and were not forced to extend him beyond five innings. Ryu's next scheduled start is lined up for next weekend's series in Cincinnati.

Ryu (knee) is listed as the Blue Jays' scheduled starter Sunday versus the Cubs, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ryu was forced from his previous outing Monday in Cleveland after being struck on the right knee by a comebacker. X-rays came back clean, however, and he is on track to take the ball for his next turn, provided he gets through a bullpen session Friday with no issues. The left-hander had tossed four scoreless innings against the Guardians before his exit.

X-rays taken Tuesday on Ryu's right knee turned up negative for any structural damage, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ryu was removed from his start Monday against the Guardians after taking a comebacker off his knee, but it's looking like he will be able to take his next turn in the Blue Jays' rotation Sunday versus the Cubs. The veteran left-hander has posted a 4.00 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 5:2 K:BB in nine innings (two starts) since returning Aug. 1 from Tommy John surgery.

Ryu left Monday's start against the Guardians with a bruised right knee.
EDGE Analysis
While this appears to be an early diagnosis, it's good news for the Blue Jays after the southpaw was drilled by a comebacker during Monday's contest. It's still too early to know if Ryu will be cleared to make his next start.

Ryu exited Monday's start against Cleveland after being struck on his right knee by a comebacker, Mike Wilner of the Toronto Star reports. He allowed one walk and struck out two across four scoreless innings prior to being removed.
EDGE Analysis
Ryu ultimately recovered to record the out at first base after being hit by a batted ball, but he went down in pain immediately after the play. The severity of the injury is not yet known, and he's undoubtedly headed to the clubhouse for additional testing.

Ryu (0-1) took the loss Tuesday, giving up four runs on nine hits and a walk over five-plus innings as the Blue Jays were routed 13-3 by the Orioles. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Making his 2023 debut after completing his recovery from Tommy John surgery, Ryu lasted 80 pitches (54 strikes) but wasn't fooling too many batters -- he managed only eight swinging strikes and got hit hard, with Gunnar Henderson's solo shot to lead off the sixth inning chasing him from the game. The veteran southpaw will round out a six-man rotation for Toronto over the next couple weeks, but once the team's schedule eases up, it's not yet clear who will get shifted to the bullpen. Ryu's next start is likely to come early next week in Cleveland.

Ryu (elbow) was activated from the 60-day injured list ahead of his start against the Orioles on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
The left-hander will make his season debut Tuesday against Baltimore after completing his rehab and recovery from Tommy John surgery. Ryu threw 85 pitches over six innings during his final minor-league rehab outing, but he's still likely to face some minor workload limitations in his first start back.

Ryu (elbow) will make his season debut for the Blue Jays on Tuesday against the Orioles, Keegan Matheson reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ryu made his final rehab start a week ago but has been throwing on the side with the Blue Jays since then. The veteran lefty will rejoin what is set to be a six-man rotation as the Jays go through a long stretch with no off days. Ryu pitched well on his rehab assignment and doesn't figure to be on a strict pitch limit versus Baltimore.

Ryu (elbow) will throw a bullpen session Wednesday at Dodger Stadium, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Blue Jays have also officially confirmed that Ryu will not start this weekend against the Angels. When exactly he will make his 2023 debut with the big club isn't known yet, but it could come as soon as early next week. Ryu -- who is coming back from Tommy John surgery -- pitched well on his rehab assignment, although his velocity was down a tick.

Ryu (elbow) isn't expected to be activated from the 60-day injured list during Toronto's weekend series against the Angels, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ryu is slated to throw a bullpen either Monday or Tuesday, but the team doesn't expect him back in the starting rotation until next week. The Blue Jays may have a better idea of when the southpaw will make his 2023 season debut following his upcoming side session.
