Ryu (forearm) began light throwing Friday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ryu left his previous start Saturday against the Athletics with forearm inflammation. The fact that he's throwing again within a week seemingly backs up the idea that he could wind up missing just two or three starts, though he's expected to require at least one rehab outing, which could push his timeline back.

Ryu (forearm) could miss just two or three starts, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ryu landed on the 10-day injured list Sunday with left forearm inflammation. The given timeline suggests he could return sometime in the first week of May, though it's possible the report involves a bit of optimism on the part of the Blue Jays. The team will be hoping the injury fully explains his poor start to the season, as he's allowed 11 runs in 7.1 innings through his first two outings.

Ryu was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday with left forearm inflammation, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ryu was diagnosed with forearm soreness after giving up five runs during Saturday's start against Oakland, and he's now landed on the shelf after undergoing an MRI. It's unclear how long the 35-year-old will be sidelined, but he could be out beyond the 10-day minimum given it's an arm injury. He won't throw for several days before the team evaluates his status, Mitch Bannon of SI.com reports. Ross Stripling is expected to fill his spot in the starting rotation.

Ryu (forearm) is scheduled to undergo an MRI later Sunday, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ryu was diagnosed with left forearm soreness following a rough start Saturday, during which he was tagged for five runs on six hits and no walks over four innings en route to taking a no-decision in the Blue Jays' 7-5 loss to the Athletics. The MRI should help the Blue Jays determine whether Ryu is dealing with any structural damage to his arm, but even if the original diagnosis holds up, the southpaw will be at risk of landing on the 10-day injured list. For the time being, Ryu lines up to make his next turn Thursday in Boston.

Ryu is getting treatment for forearm soreness following a poor start Saturday against Oakland, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports. He gave up five runs on six hits in four innings of work, striking out just one.
EDGE Analysis
Ryu was knocked around in the top of the second inning, with the Athletics opening the frame with four straight hits and scoring three runs. Sean Murphy added a two-run homer in the top of the third. Ryu has now allowed 11 runs in 7.1 innings to start the season, and it now looks as though an injury may be the cause of his struggles. He could be sent for tests Sunday morning depending on how his arm feels.

Ryu (hamstring) is listed as the Blue Jays' confirmed starting pitcher for Saturday's game against the Athletics, Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Blue Jays never expressed much concern about Ryu's ability to make his second start of the season after he suffered a bruised hamstring when he was hit by a comebacker in Sunday's loss to the Rangers. Before exiting the contest, Ryu was roughed up over 3.1 innings, as he surrendered six runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four.

Manager Charlie Montoyo said after Sunday's loss to the Rangers that Ryu has a hamstring contusion but should be fine, Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ryu was removed from Sunday's matchup in the fourth inning after he was hit by a comebacker, but he initially tried to wave off the training staff. He said that he doesn't expect that the injury will pose a problem, so it wouldn't be surprising to see the southpaw make his next start. He felt confident in his fastball for the first three innings of Sunday's matchup and tentatively lines up to start at home Friday against Oakland.

Ryu was removed from Sunday's start against the Rangers after being hit by a comebacker near his left knee during the fourth inning, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. He allowed six runs on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts over 3.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran left-hander was likely coming out of the contest regardless since Texas had two runners on with three runs already across in the frame, but it's worth monitoring his status ahead of start No. 2. Ryu waved off the training staff before exiting the contest, so it doesn't appear to be a serious concern. His next turn through the rotation currently lines up for Friday versus the A's.

Ryu allowed three runs on four hits over three innings in Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Tigers. He struck out two without walking a batter.
EDGE Analysis
Seeing his first game action of the spring, Ryu gave up two extra-base hits, including a solo shot by Akil Baddoo in the first inning. It's not an auspicious start to the spring for the 35-year-old left-hander, who posted a 4.37 ERA in 2021 -- the worst mark of his MLB career over a full season -- but the additions of Kevin Gausman in the offseason and Jose Berrios at last year's trade deadline, as well as the emergence of Alek Manoah, take a lot of pressure off Ryu to be anything close to an ace for Toronto.

Ryu is scheduled to start Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Tigers, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
Though he'll be making his spring debut later than most of Toronto's healthy pitchers, Ryu shouldn't be too far behind them from a conditioning standpoint. Before he reported to spring training once the lockout ended, Ryu had been taking part in workouts in South Korea with the Doosan Bears of the Korea Baseball Organization. He contracted COVID-19 during his training program, but he was asymptomatic after testing positive for the virus and made a swift recovery. He'll head into his age-35 campaign coming off a down 2021 in which he finished with a 4.37 ERA, his worst mark in any of his seven MLB seasons where he made multiple starts.
