Iwakuma (shoulder) is still limited to light throwing and manager Scott Servais acknowledges there is no timetable for his return, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander has played catch on multiple occasions this past week, but he's apparently got a ways to go before emerging from that phase. Servais emphasized that Iwakuma was feeling good Friday following his Thursday throwing session and that once he's able to throw at 150 feet consistently, he''ll be able to take the mound and throw a bullpen. Iwakuma has been sidelined since May 3 and is 0-2 with a 4.35 ERA across six starts this season.

Iwakuma (shoulder) played catch Thursday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander resumed throwing from flat ground last Sunday, so Thursday's development was another small step in the right direction. Iwakuma is still slated to miss the next several weeks, as the aforementioned session earlier this week marked a total restart of his throwing program.

Iwakuma (shoulder) resumed throwing off flat ground Sunday from 70 feet, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Iwakuma will have to start up his throwing program from the very beginning again after the Mariners decided to shut him down in early July with inflammation in his right shoulder, which he treated through platelet-rich plasma injections. It will likely take at least a month before Iwakuma passes through each phase of the rehab process, so he probably won't be worth stashing in most formats at this time. The 36-year-old has been limited to just six starts this season, submitting a 4.35 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 16:12 K:BB in 31 innings.

Though the Mariners haven't provided an official timetable for his return, Iwakuma isn't expected to return from the 10-day disabled list until mid-August at the earliest, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Iwakuma had been hopeful to come off the DL before the All-Star break, but that plan was dashed after he experienced more discomfort during a bullpen session last weekend, prompting the Mariners to shut him down for at least a week. Since Iwakuma has a lengthy history of shoulder problems and will need to restart his throwing program from the beginning, it will likely take him at least a month to advance through all phases. His extended absence will afford young arms Sam Gaviglio and Andrew Moore some extra time to stake their claim to rotation spots.

Iwakuma (shoulder) was shut down from throwing after experiencing discomfort in his latest bullpen, Bob Dutton of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is another tough break for Iwakuma, who just can't seem to shake the lingering shoulder injury that has given him problems since the beginning of May. He was given a PRP injection to help him heal before he resumes a throwing program, though that won't be for at least another week. The 36-year-old remains a ways away from returning to big-league action after this most recent setback.

Iwakuma (shoulder) has been recalled from his rehab assignment at Triple-A Tacoma in order to undergo further medical evaluation, Bob Dutton of The News Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
It had already been announced earlier this week that the veteran right-hander's planned activation this coming Saturday had been scrapped, and Thursday's development paints an even murkier picture with respect to a potential return date. Iwakuma last big-league game action came on May 3, and he endured a rough two-inning outing in his rehab start for the Rainiers this past Monday.

Iwakuma (shoulder) will not be activated from the disabled list to start Saturday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
This comes as a result of the right-hander only managing to last two innings in Monday's rehab start. Instead of returning to the big-league rotation, Iwakuma will make one more rehab start, although the date of the start has yet to be revealed. Look for either Christian Bergman or Sam Gaviglio to make Saturday's start in his stead.

Iwakuma (shoulder) allowed four runs on four hits and two walks over two innings in a rehab start for Triple-A Tacoma on Monday, Rainiers broadcaster Mike Curto reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander particularly ran into trouble in the second, an inning in which he threw 32 pitches. With his overall pitch count up to 49 at the end of the first two frames, it appears Iwakuma was pulled due to ineffectiveness, as the plan had been for him to throw approximately 75 pitches. It remains to be seen if Monday's unfavorable result will do anything to affect the previously announced plan to activate Iwakuma off the disabled list this coming weekend.

Iwakuma (shoulder) will be activated from the 10-day disabled list and start either Saturday or Sunday during the Mariners' series next weekend with the Astros, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The injury-battered Mariners rotation is finally set to receive some reinforcement, as Iwakuma and Felix Hernandez (shoulder) have both been cleared to return to the big club next weekend following lengthy stints on the DL. Iwakuma will first need to make a second rehab start with Triple-A Tacoma on Monday, but assuming he's able to hit 75 pitches without any renewed soreness, he'll be cleared to make his next turn in the majors. Manager Scott Servais hasn't announced which two pitchers will lose their spots in the rotation once Hernandez and Iwakuma are activated, but Christian Bergman, Yovani Gallardo and Sam Gaviglio would seemingly be most at risk.

Iwakuma (shoulder), who will start for Triple-A Tacoma against Salt Lake on Monday, is projected to throw roughly 70 pitches over 5-6 innings, Bob Dutton of The News Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander will look to follow up his strong showing for High-A Modesto last Wednesday with a longer outing against a better caliber of competition. Assuming he emerges with no setbacks and completes his projected workload, Iwakuma will likely be activated. "He's not a 115-pitch guy anyway," pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre said. "If we can get him to 70-75 (pitches), he can come back and pitch for us and hope to get five or six (innings) and 85."
