Quiroz signed a minor league deal with the Giants on Saturday, Baseball America's Matt Eddy reports. Quiroz does not bring much to the table offensively, hitting .267 with three home runs in 252 plate appearances at Triple-A Fresno last season. He will offer organizational depth at catcher, but with Buster Posey and Andrew Susac firmly entrenched at the big league level, Quiroz could very easily spend most of 2015 in the minors.

Quiroz was outrighted to Triple-A Sacramento on Monday. Despite posting just a .661 OPS in 69 games at Triple-A in 2014, Quiroz's name was included among the team's September callups. He appeared in just two games during the season's final month, however, and was ultimately deemed undeserving of a spot on the 40-man roster. The 32-year-old figures to play out 2015 as organizational depth in the minors.

Quiroz will be called up from Triple-A Fresno on Monday, the San Jose Mercury News reports. The veteran appeared in 43 games for the Giants last season but has spent all of 2014 at Triple-A, where he owns a .267/.295/.367 slash line with 23 RBI. He'll provide depth behind the plate down the stretch with Hector Sanchez (concussion) unlikely to return this season.

Giants reassigned C Guillermo Quiroz, RHP Jake Dunning, RHP Jake Cordier and INF/OF Mark Minicozzi to minor league camp. The 32-year-old backstop will serve as organizational depth at the Triple-A level and will return should the Giants suffer an injury behind the plate. Minicozzi opened some eyes with a couple of homers this spring, and could get a look at some point during the 2014 season.

Guillermo Quiroz hit a walkoff homer in the bottom of the 10th as the Giants beat the Dodgers 10-9 on Saturday. Quiroz was the Giants' last man on the bench and was pinch-hitting for the pitcher in the 10th. The homer was the third of his major league career, with the previous two both coming in 2008. With a pair of one-run wins to open the series against the Dodgers, the Giants are now 18-12 this season.
