Jones had sat back-to-back games, but will return to first base Sunday afternoon when the Marlins take on opposing right-hander Gerrit Cole. Jones hasn't collected an extra-base hit since August 26, and is batting just .240 on the season.

Jeff Mathis will start at first in place of Jones, who is batting just .206/.281/.325 since the intermission.

Jones is not in the lineup Friday, the Sun-Sentinel's Juan C. Rodriguez reports. Jones starts roughly 80 percent of the Marlins' games, but has been fairly underwhelming this season, hitting just .240 with 13 home runs. Justin Bour will get the start at first base Friday.

It's certainly understandable, given Jones' .203/.261/.250 batting line against southpaws this season. Jeff Baker will man first base and bat second against Hector Santiago.

Jones will give way to Jeff Baker at first base Monday with lefty Wade LeBlanc toeing the rubber for the Angels. As has been consistent with his career, Jones is struggling against lefties this season, posting a .261 on-base percentage over 64 plate appearances.

Nothing to see here, as Jones' exposure to lefties has been limited all season and the Rockies are starting a southpaw in Franklin Morales. Jeff Baker will take over at first base and bat second, with Marcell Ozuna batting fifth and Donovan Solano in the eight-hole.

Jones is out of the lineup Saturday versus the Diamondbacks, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. With lefty Wade Miley on the hill for Arizona, Jones will concede his spot in the lineup to Jeff Baker, who has been his usual platoon mate versus southpaws over the past couple of months. Baker will bat fifth and play first base.

Jones went 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored in Tuesday's win over the Pirates. Jones appears to be warming at the dish with hits in each of his last three games and 12 of his last 13 contests overall. It is welcome news for the slugging first baseman who posted a poor .227/.256/.360 in 75 July at-bats. For the year, he's batting .257 with 12 home runs and 43 RBI over 366 at-bats.

Jones knocked his 12th home run of the year, a two-run shot, in Sunday's loss to the Reds.
