Freddy Garcia yielded three runs in five innings Saturday in a win over the Angels. Garcia labored through a 28-pitch first inning and was fortunate to escape by giving up just two runs. All told, he allowed five hits and five walks while striking out four. It was far from pretty, but it was enough for him to notch his fourth victory of the season. Garcia lines up to start next Thursday against the A's, but he's only an option in AL-only leagues.

Freddy Garcia allowed one run over 6 2/3 innings in a 6-1 win over the Red Sox on Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader. Garcia took advantage of a lightweight Boston lineup by scattering six hits while striking out five and walking a pair. The only run scored on an RBI single by Mauro Gomez in the bottom of the fourth inning. David Phelps is still in the mix, but Garcia may end up keeping a rotation spot after CC Sabathia (groin) returns from the disabled list.

Making his last relief appearance for a while, Freddy Garcia pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings for a win against the Indians on Wednesday. It's doubtful the Yankees will want to use Garcia again before he makes his return to the rotation Monday against the Rays. The plan was for him to make two starts in place off CC Sabathia before the break, but if he pitches well, he'll likely get to stick around longer now as Andy Pettitte's replacement. Still, AL-only leaguers will probably want to pass.

Freddy Garcia will start in place of CC Sabathia (groin) on Friday against the White Sox. Sabathia was placed on the disabled list Wednesday with a groin strain and is expected to be sidelined through the All-Star break. Garcia has a 6.91 ERA across 28 2/3 innings this season and hasn't started a game since April 28. He can be avoided in most fantasy leagues.

Yankees activated RHP Freddy Garcia from the bereavement list. Garcia was away for a few days while attending the funeral of his grandfather. He'll resume a long relief role.

Yankees placed RHP Freddy Garcia on the bereavement list. Garcia's grandfather passed away, so he's heading back to Venezuela for the funeral. The Yankees have called up Ryota Igarashi from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to provide relief depth while Garcia is gone.

Freddy Garcia yielded one unearned run on one hit through two innings against the Orioles on Tuesday. Since his demotion to the bullpen on April 29, Garcia has surrendered only three hits along with zero earned runs in six innings. While his 8.69 ERA remains ugly, he is finally headed in the right direction.

The Yankees have officially moved Freddy Garcia to the bullpen. David Phelps is expected to replace him in the rotation. In four starts, Garcia had an 0-2 record and 12.51 ERA through 13 2/3 innings. D.J. Mitchell has been promoted from Triple-A to serve as the Yankees' long man.

Freddy Garcia turned in another abysmal performance against the Tigers on Saturday, allowing six runs on five hits in just 1 2/3 innings of work. Garcia struck out three and walked two hitters in the short outing. He's been nothing short of dreadful this season, with an 0-2 record and 12.51 ERA through 13 2/3 innings. In all likelihood, this may be the last time you see Garcia pitch in the Yankees rotation. David Phelps, who pitched very well in relief on Saturday, should be a candidate to replace him next time out.

Freddy Garcia is expected to start for the Yankees on either Saturday or Sunday against the Tigers. The Yanks had considered skipping Garcia's turn in the rotation following Sunday's rainout, but evidently they've decided to keep him on turn. Garcia, who has a 9.75 ERA through his first three starts this season, still seems likely to lose his spot in a couple week when Andy Pettitte is ready, though Phil Hughes has struggled, as well.
