Aybar is not in the lineup Saturday against the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Aybar will head to the bench for just the third time all season, with Luis Sardinas getting the start at shortstop in his stead. The 33-year-old currently owns a .206/.284/.340 triple slash with three homers and three stolen bases through 30 games this season.

Aybar is batting second Thursday against the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
The starting shortstop, who hit a home run Wednesday, moves up in the order against Colorado southpaw Kyle Freeland. Aybar has some sneaky DFS appeal for batting high in the order.

Aybar went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
With three homers and three steals through 28 games, Aybar has already matched his 2016 totals in both categories. While those numbers have been a pleasant surprise, his paltry .212 batting average keeps him out of the conversation in standard fantasy formats. However, those in very deep and NL-only leagues may find value in the veteran shortstop as a middle infield option.

Aybar went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs in Wednesday's 8-5 win over the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
Aybar's 398-foot solo shot to right off Zack Godley opened the scoring on the night for the Padres after Arizona had opened up an early 4-0 lead. The veteran is still sporting an unsightly .200/.293/.338 line but has a four-game hitting streak and has hit safely in seven of his last eight contests overall. Aybar is also now just one homer short of the three he hit last season over 415 at-bats with the Tigers and Braves.

Aybar went 1-for-4 with a a stolen base and a run scored in Monday's loss to the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
The 33-year-old has looked his age this season, slashing .169/.265/.271 in 60 plate appearances while serving as the Padres' everyday shortstop. Aybar has never been a power threat, but speed has been a big part of his fantasy game in the past. Unless he recaptures his ability swipe bags with regularity or get his batting average north of .250, then he won't provide much value to fantasy owners at any level.

Aybar smacked his first homer of the season in Wednesday's 1-0 victory over the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
The switch-hitting shortstop was one of the few San Diego bats to get to Arizona starter Zack Greinke, producing the only run the Padres could scratch out all evening. Despite the nice display, Aybar is in the midst of a terrible stretch at the plate, producing just a .567 OPS through the first 15 games. If he continues to scuffle at the plate, the veteran might begin ceding more starts to younger options as the Padres start to evaluate their options for the future.

Aybar is out of the lineup Monday against the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
With only two hits in 21 at-bats while starting the past seven games, Aybar will get the day off in the series finale as manager Andy Green looks to see if Luis Sardinas can inject some life into the offense while filling in at shortstop. Aybar was one of baseball's worst-performing regulars last season with a .243/.303/.320 slash line in 459 plate appearances with the Braves and Tigers, and with his numbers down across the board early on in 2017, it may not be long before he permanently surrenders his starting role.

Aybar is not in the lineup Saturday against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
After starting all of the Padres' first five games, Aybar will take a seat as Rule 5 pick Allen Cordoba makes his first major league start. He'll likely return to the lineup Sunday, though he doesn't carry much fantasy value.

Aybar turned his four plate appearances into two doubles, a single and a walk in Tuesday's 4-0 win over the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Despite the perfect day at the plate, he neither knocked in nor scored a run, which is rather disappointing. Aybar's the starting shortstop for San Diego now, but there's no reason to expect much production out of him; after all, this is a guy who's posted an OPS in the .600s in three of the last four seasons.

The Padres selected Aybar's contract Tuesday, and he has been officially named the team's starting shortstop.
EDGE Analysis
He hit .275 with a .700 OPS, one home run and one stolen base in 51 spring at-bats, beating out Luis Sardinas for the starting gig. Aybar is a bottom-three fantasy option among starting shortstops, as he projects to offer very few counting stats relative to his playing time. At best, he might offer an empty batting average in the .265 range with a handful of steals.
