Eric Stults was lit up for five runs on six hits over 4 2/3 innings Thursday in a loss to the Cubs. Stults struck out four and didn't walk anyone. The soft-tossing left-hander didn't have problems in his first trip through the lineup, but the Cubs solved his popgun arsenal with a two-run fourth and three-run fifth. Stults, now 2-5 with a 4.97 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, and only 25 strikeouts, is not a fantasy option. Stults takes on the Snakes in Arizona on Tuesday.

Eric Stults pitched well in a losing effort against the Rockies on Friday, surrendering only two runs (one earned) on six hits over 6 2/3 innings. The soft-tossing left-hander walked one and struck out a pair on the evening. Despite the unexpected strong start at Coors Field, Stults still owns a 4.50 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 21/8 K/BB ratio on the season. He's best served being left on the waiver wire for Thursday's home start against the Cubs.

Eric Stults picked up his second win after allowing two runs in six innings Saturday against the Marlins. This stops the bleeding for a bit, but it's just Stults' second quality start in eight tries this year. His rotation spot is sure to be in doubt as some of the Padres' younger options continue to progress in the minors.

Kansas City ensured Eric Stults' rough start continued Monday, collecting three runs on 11 hits over 4 2/3 innings. Stults, who had two this evening, has not struck out more than three batters in a start this season. He's surrendered less than seven hits in three of seven starts. He's lasted longer than six innings zero times. But good news! He didn't allow a ball to leave the yard tonight for the first time all year. The southpaw, 1-3 with a 5.40 ERA and 1.77 WHIP, plays host to the Marlins this weekend in San Diego.

Eric Stults was torched for five runs on seven hits over 2 2/3 innings Tuesday in a loss to the Giants. It was ugly from the jump, as Stults served up solo homers to leadoff hitter Angel Pagan and No. 3 batter Buster Posey. Bud Black had seen enough during a three-run third, yanking Stults in favor of Donn Roach before the end of the frame. Stults, no fantasy option at 1-3 with a 5.34 ERA and 1.67 WHIP, will face the Royals in his next start.

Eric Stults got the no-decision in Thursday's start against the Nationals, allowing two runs in 5 1/3 innings. Stults tried to make it through the sixth, but was pulled after allowing a one-out solo home run to Danny Espinosa followed by a single. Overall, the lefty allowed ten hits, walked none, and struck out three. Stults allowed a few too many hits, but to his credit, he was able to dance out of danger. He has only 12 strikeouts through 26 innings, however. Stults will face the Giants in his next start.

Eric Stults limited the Giants to one run and three hits in six innings Saturday to win for the first time this season. Stults pounded the strike zone, and the Giants just didn't have much of an answer for him. It was his first quality start in four tries this year and also the first in which he didn't give up a homer. Next up for him is a date with the Nationals.

Eric Stults coughed up four runs -- three earned -- on nine hits over five innings in a 5-4 no-decision win against the Rockies on Monday. It was another blah outing for the southpaw, who is now 0-2 with a 5.52 ERA and 1.77 WHIP through three starts. There's nothing fluky going on here, as evidenced by his 7/5 K/BB rate and three homers allowed over 14 2/3 innings (Wilin Rosario got him tonight). Nobody should want any part of Stults when he toes the rubber in San Diego against the Giants this weekend.

Eric Stults held the Indians to two runs -- one earned -- over 5 2/3 innings Wednesday but took his second loss of the season. Nick Swisher reached on a one-out error by Alexi Amarista in the sixth inning, and Jason Kipnis followed with a home run for the lone runs of the game. While he did pick up another loss, Stults was a lot better in this one. He'll go up against the Rockies next week at home.
