Phelps (7-6) fired six scoreless innings of two-hit ball against the Pirates in Saturday's 3-1 victory, walking two and striking out a season-high nine.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran righty was outstanding Saturday, with almost a quarter of his 59 strikes coming on swings-and-misses. The 29-year-old has been solid since assuming a starting role earlier in August, and has 17 whiffs over his last 11.1 innings. Phelps will look to extend his current two-start winning streak when he takes on the Padres next Friday.

Phelps (6-6) held the Reds to two runs on four hits and a walk while racking up eight strikeouts over 5.1 innings in Monday's road win.
EDGE Analysis
David added to what has already been a successful athletic fortnight for the Phelps name, taking advantage of a favorable matchup to notch his first win since being reinserted into the rotation last week. He reached 90 pitches for the second straight performance, but capped out right at that mark as has been the case throughout his career. Saturday's road tilt with the Pirates should be a good test of the 29-year-old's ability to provide consistent value as a stater.

Phelps (5-6) pitched five strong innings, allowing one run on four hits and three walks while striking out five Giants in Wednesday's 1-0 loss.
EDGE Analysis
Despite being the hard-luck loser Wednesday, Phelps has nothing to hang his head about after making just his second start of 2016. Building off his 4.1 scoreless innings (70 pitches) last time out against the Rockies, Phelps managed a 90-pitch performance for the first time in more than a year. The right-hander's lone mistake came in the top of the fourth when Brandon Crawford belted a 3-2 offering from Phelps over the fence in right. His upside is limited due to his inability to work deep into games, but Phelps has a decent track record as a starter in his career. The 29-year-old is a reasonable fantasy options for teams in need of an arm, and his upcoming start Tuesday in Cincinnati against one of the league's worst lineups is more than appealing.

Phelps tossed 4.1 shutout innings Friday against the Rockies while making his first start of the season. He earned no-decision in 5-3 win.
EDGE Analysis
It was a strong effort from Phelps as he allowed four hits and one walk with four strikeouts after being thrust into the starting rotation after spending the entirety of the season in the bullpen. As a result he was on a strict pitch count and pulled after 70 pitches. Phelps continues to put together his best season as a pro and has compiled a 2.45 ERA and 1.14 WHIP over 58.2 innings pitched. The veteran hurler is lined up to take on the Giants at home Wednesday, if given another shot to start.

Phelps threw a bullpen on Tuesday and all signs point to him making the start at Colorado on Friday, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the Marlins dealing Colin Rea back to San Diego and not trading for another starter before the deadline, a spot has opened up in the Miami rotation. It looks like Phelps, who has been used as a start in the past, will take over that role for now. Phelps will make the start in Colorado on Friday, making him a very risky play in fantasy leagues.

Phelps is being considered to take a starting role in the Marlins' rotation, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Phelps has been a solid option from the bullpen for Miami this season, posting a 2.65 ERA and 1.14 WHIP while striking out batters at a rate of 31.5 percent. He's been used as a starter in the past, however, the results were subpar. In his career as a starter, Phelps owns a 4.36 ERA and .262 opponent batting average.

Phelps (5-5) hurled 2.2 innings of scoreless, one-hit ball in Saturday's 11-0 victory over the Cardinals. He walked two but struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran reliever found himself in the game earlier than expected after starter Colin Rea left the contest in the fourth with elbow problems. The emergency duty resulted in Phelps' longest stint since way back on April 12, and his second-longest of the season overall. The performance was an extension of the former starter's recent success, as it marked his fourth consecutive scoreless appearance and sixth in his last seven.

Phelps was saddled with the loss Friday, allowing one run on two hits and a walk while retiring just one batter against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Phelps entered with the game tied in the seventh allowing back-to-back singles and a sacrifice fly that drove in the go-ahead run. The veteran reliever then walked Wilmer Flores before being removed from the game. Phelps has been largely steady for the Marlins' this season but holds a concerning 8.44 ERA and 2.81 WHIP over his last six appearances (5.1 innings pitched). He's walked seven batters and allowed two home runs over that time after allowing just 12 walks and a pair of home runs in his previous 44 innings.

Phelps fired a perfect eighth inning, striking out one, in Sunday's win over the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Phelps secured his 18th hold of the season with the scoreless frame. Aside from bumpy inning here and there, Phelps is putting together a renaissance season as Miami's primary setup option. The former swing-man has registered a 2.36 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with 49 strikeouts against 12 walks in 42 innings pitched this season. He's also grabbed three spot saves and remains the clear number two option behind closer A.J. Ramos.

Phelps worked around two hits and a walk while striking out two for his third save Thursday against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Phelps certainly didn't make this one easy on himself. He gave up a pair of singles, balked the runners to second and third, then issued a walk to load the bases before generating a strikeout and a flyout to end the game. Regular closer A.J. Ramos had pitched four of the last five days, so this was just a spot save for Phelps, but he remains the clear successor if anything happens to Ramos.
