Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times writes that the Rays "seem likely to end up with" David DeJesus. ESPN's Jesse Rogers reported earlier Thursday that the Rays claimed DeJesus off waivers, which Topkin has confirmed. They're likely to get the outfielder either via their claim or a trade. DeJesus, of course, was just claimed off waivers by the Nats earlier this week, but they're not interested in paying his salary.

According to ESPN's Jesse Rogers, the Rays claimed David DeJesus off waivers from the Nationals. It was a revocable-waivers claim, so the Nationals can either pull DeJesus back, let him go to the Rays for nothing or attempt to work out a trade. DeJesus is batting .248/.328/.399 with six home runs and 27 RBI in 86 games this season between Chicago and Washington. The 33-year-old outfielder is owed around $2.5 million.

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, David DeJesus has been claimed off revocable waivers. The Nationals acquired DeJesus from the Cubs on Monday for a player to be named later but could now look to move him to get out of the $2.5 million in salary that the outfielder is still owed. DeJesus is still a productive and versatile player, and would be a nice addition for a contending club. The Nationals can either pull him back off waivers, try to work out a trade with the team that claimed him or let him go to that team for free.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Nationals have placed David DeJesus on waivers. Yes, they have placed him on waivers the same day that they acquired him. It appears that the Nats' main intention was not to trade for DeJesus but rather to keep someone else from getting him. They inherited the just over $1 million on his contract for the rest of the season, as well as the $6.5 million club option (or $1.5 million buyout) for 2014.

Nationals acquired OF David DeJesus from the Cubs for a player to be named later. CBS Sports' Danny Knobler was the first to report the trade. DeJesus is batting .268/.349/.444 against right-handed pitching this season and will provide outfield depth. The Nationals have released Roger Bernadina to clear a spot on the 25-man roster.

David DeJesus will bat cleanup for the first time in his career Friday against the Cardinals. DeJesus has started out of every spot in the order except fourth during his career, but he can scratch that one off the bucket list Friday against St. Louis. Of course, this speaks more to the pathetic Cubs' lineup than DeJesus' production.

David DeJesus went 2-for-3 with three RBI in the win over the Brewers on Wednesday. DeJesus was rumored to be on the trading block in the hours leading up to the deadline, but the outfielder remained a Cub and celebrated by posting his third straight multi-hit game. He's raised his average from .260 to .273 in those three games. The three RBI gave him 27 on the year, as the 33-year-old has served primarily as the Cubs' leadoff hitter this season.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Cubs expect to move either David DeJesus or Nate Schierholtz. Rosenthal speculates that DeJesus might be more likely to be moved, as Schierholtz could be a fit for the Cubs in 2014. He will be a free agent after this season, though. Rosenthal hears that the Pirates are involved on both players.

Cubs activated OF David DeJesus from the 15-day disabled list. DeJesus wound up missing over five full weeks because of a right shoulder strain. He will return on Wednesday night to an underwhelming .260/.318/.445 batting line.

David DeJesus (shoulder) could be activated from the disabled list Wednesday. DeJesus, out since June 15 with a shoulder strain, is 4-for-11 (.364) with two doubles and a walk over three rehab games with the Cubs' Arizona Rookie League affiliate. His return would give the Cubs about a week to consider offers before the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline, though they could also deal him in August.
